Andrew McCullough

The story coming out of Brisvegas is that Andrew McCullough won’t be re-signed by the Broncs for 2020, and the performance of Jake Turpin last night and the fact they’ve signed Seggy would reinforce that.

Should Mark O’Neill be looking to offer McCullough a lifeline deal as our veteran back up to Reed Mahoney ?

Repeat, strictly as our number 2 hooker, not to replace Mahoney.

  • Absolutely no.

We have a back up at the moment and what about young Kyle Schneider?

Besides, McCullough will want decent money.

    Invest in youth !

  • Wont be cheap in my opinion

  • If he came cheap and if he wants to play for wenty yes

                                  But

He wont come cheap and no he wanted to play in THE NRL side so that's a NO FOR ME

  • No thanks

  • Like I said guys, a lifeline deal, not a starters deal. Schneider is at least two years away from even being a top 30 player IMO

    • If Reed for some reason became unavailable, who would step up. Will Smith?

      • Well we do have Matt McIllwrick this season, but who knows if we’ll still have him next year.

But yes, you clearly understand why I asked the question.

I still maintain you need at least 3 Hooker’s in your top 30, plus a utility like Will Smith as insurance.

        • I think it will depend if we still have McIllwrick. We do need a verteran backup as we wait for Schneider to ease into NRL, which is still a way off. I would expect Kyle to start on the bench in NRL towards the back end of next season.

          • I would like the club to see how Kaysa is going and where he sees himself as a league player. If he finishes up and I would say it will be on medical advice then we need another back up.  The signing of McIlwich for me is an unknown as to his abilities, saw him play in one game on the box and seemed to go ok there.

I would certainly not see signing McCullough as being an advantage for the club. He's contracted with the mules until end of 2021, and would be asking at least the same amount of coin, doubt the mules will pay much towards his removal fees either.

Watching the last few eels games, its noticeable how many times Gutho, Salmon and even Moses have gone into dummy half rather than Mahoney all the time, also Fergo has been going in there as well, I believe that is working and in reality why sign another old player who is being shopped around? He wont get the money he's getting now without the mules paying some amount for him
