Even though we couldn't keep him and he defected to Manly, its a real shame. He is a good player with a big engine and a story of persistance.
'He's done something bad': Manly's Andrew Davey's 'season finished' after ACL injury
3 days ago
After just four minutes of game time, Davey had to be helped from the field after falling awkwardly in a twisting tackle at Brookvale Oval.
Coach Des Hasler confirmed after the match that Davey's season was likely done for this year.
"It's not going to get any easier, particularly with some of the injuries we've picked up," Hasler said.
"Andrew Davey, very likely an ACL, so that's his season finished.
"He had some really good goals, I thought what he provided last week was a real spark, he's so competitive as well, so we're going to miss that."
It was Davey's first start of the season, due to teammate Curtis Sironen also suffering a knee injury and being ruled out for four to six weeks.
"He's injured here, he's done something bad," NRL great Braith Anasta said at the time of injury.
"I think he's done his knee here."

It's a shame for him. I liked what I saw with him last season for us, and while it was disappointing to lose him, it's understandable for the lower tier players like him to take the best offer they can get.
I hope he gets back on the field as soon as possible and has some good NRL footy in front of him.
What a bloody shame, he slogged it out for years and now when it looks like he gets his chance - KAPUT!
Here's to a speedy and successful recovery.
Ick, that sucks. I was disapoointed to see Davey go, as I thought he played well and looked promising. And such a hard luck story overall at this point
Good ole Brookvale Oval strikes again.
It's quite amazing that the oval isn't sponsored by a few Private Hospitals
Really sad to hear that. Good player and seems a decent bloke with it
Terrible outcome for him after working for so long to make it into the NRL. Hope Manly look after him.
ACL confirmed.
He was super excited to be starting his first game. He did nothing wrong in that tackle. It's just super unfair.
Wish we never let him go in the first place. That aside, I feel so sorry for him given his age and how hard he has worked to get to where he is.
Sad for him, at least he still gets paid and its happened early enough he should be ready to go for next season.
I said earlier it's a shame for Davey he's done things the long way around but thankfully for him got a 2 year deal so he has some security for next season
