The Sun-Herald can reveal that an intermediary acting for the Eels approached former Melbourne assistant Michael Maguire, now at Wigan, about replacing Anderson for next year. ''As always, Michael's future and negotiations won't be discussed publicly,'' was the only comment from Maguire's manager, Daniel Zammit.
However, sources in England have confirmed the approach, even though Anderson is contracted to the Eels until the end of next year. When told that Maguire was committed to seeing out his contract at the Super League-leading Wigan Warriors, the intermediary instead gauged his interest in joining the Eels in 2012.

so is this true? they wanted him gone 4 months ago?
Perhaps they did sound out Kearney and Maguire about 2011 or perhaps its the media taking a little bit and connecting the dots - coming up with something totally different.
If the board wants to replace Anderson in 2012, it is their right.
I personally think that to break his contract in 2011 would be wrong but to be an effective coach he has to have the dressing room, the board and the sponsors. If he loses any of these, he will be gone.
Its just how the business works.
I think its time that as a club we need to come together. Lock the doors to the rabid hounds that are the media and have the word 'solidarity' as our mantra.
All this uncertainty including us making guesses about the current status, doesnt assist the players at all.
If you have any experience in the media, you will know this. I personally have been interviewed a few times and usually sit there and wonder who the hell was that ?
Unless you have been subjected to this, you wouldnt know how bad you can come across !
The media is there to sell media. Thats their job.
Pricey is probably sitting at home wondering what the hell is all the fuss and fuming saying "hey I didnt mean that, I didnt say that"
Problem with pricey is that the Media goes to him because he is so easy to get - time and time again.
His devotion to the eels is not in question but he has to learn that times have changed and he must be more judicious in his comments.
