Anderson vows Eels will bounce back

Parramatta coach Daniel Anderson has vowed there will be no repeat of last week's poor performance against St George Illawarra when the two sides meet again this Sunday. The Eels were humbled 37-0 by the Dragons last week to end a run of seven successive victories, prompting many to claim their bubble has burst ahead of the NRL finals showdown at Kogarah.Anderson said his side have not been affected by the defeat, but admits travelling back to Kogarah will be a tough ask for his team."We will be OK," Anderson said."Friday was not an aberration, we were beaten by a better team and we've gone some way this week to rectifying our performance."We're not silly, we know we have got to play better. We got turned over because the other team were better than us, simple as that really."I can't control the Dragons but I can control us a little bit and we will be alright."Anderson also brushed off claims made by Dragons hooker Dean Young that the Eels will be mentally scarred by last week's heavy defeat."All the boys are smiling and there is no mental scarring here," he said."It's why it's a great game rugby league, you can express your opinions any way you want but we will not take it as any bait or motivation, because we know we have no baggage from the game."Anderson said he was delighted with Jarryd Hayne's Dally M medal success and said it was a triumph for the whole club as well as the in-form fullback."It is a great boost to the team, we got poleaxed last Friday night and to have Jarryd win the Dally M is a great boost for us and a great reward for all his efforts this week," he said."There are some great players in the competition, but he deserves the honour."Hayne admitted winning the award had not yet sunk in yet as he is fully focused on the finals."It is hard to think about it with the finals coming up and I didn't really celebrate because we have a game on Sunday. I guess it will sink in when the season is over," he said."But it was great to have my mum there with me when I won and was able to share it with her."Hayne also admitted the Eels' confidence had taken a knock after the defeat last Friday."We got a hiding last week and we have to be on our game this week or we are going to get a hiding again," Hayne said."We didn't prepare that well leading up to the game and it is pretty hard to prepare to face the same team two weeks in a row."We were embarrassed and it's going to be tough to go there again on Sunday, it's one of the hardest places to play."Hayne said Parramatta will have to rein in their free-flowing style if they are to keep their season alive."We need as a team to be a bit more patient."We do tend to throw the ball around a bit too much and that is what caused turnovers on Friday.http://www.nrl.com/newsviews/latestnews/newsarticle/tabid/10874/newsid/56647/anderson-vows-eels-will-bounce-back/default.aspx
