Maybe they were thinking of a Tony Zappia/Ricky Stuart combo package.
The team was still in all sorts the fans had the shits cause the team was losing!!!! Fitzy amd Overton would have been copping it from all angles!!!the pressure was mounting they would have to have tried to shift the blame somewhere and hit the Panic Buttons!!!!!
Why not blame DA they could bring a new Coach in and explain show to the fans "that they were setting an example" and so on and then they would "wheel in Stuart" as new coach meaning the fans couldnt expect him to turn the team around in 12 months and give him the time to"get runs on the board" thus saving Fitzy and Overtons areses again!!!
The eels club was run like the current NSW Labor goverment it was in Dire Straits!!!! The fans had had enough of Fitzy and co Their attitude of just bring in a new figurehead being the coach and the voters (fans/members in our case) will cut us some slack would have been in the back of their minds!!!
Fact is the fans were sick of the Fitzgerald self elected governement
