  • "While it is unclear how many coaches are still in the mix after interviews were conducted with chair Sean McElduff, chief executive Jim Sarantinos and head of football Mark O’Neill, what is known is that Ryles and Hannay remain the leading contenders as Eels officials prepare to conduct a second round of interviews before announcing their new coach, most likely in the middle of July."

If they don't know who's in the mix, they don't know the leading contenders.

More of the same. Let's just hope they don't influence the Eels decision in any way.

    • NOS it is the constant isn't it. Parra will not release anything. Which is where i would not be surprised in the slightest that they name someone other than Hannay and Ryles. One thing is Hannay and Barrett have both gone onto a bit of a campaign to the media, Ryles stayed silent. Wonder if any type of thing to look into there?

But anyway, they are making it up as they go. It is same as Holbrook last week was in there as a contender despite one week hearing he is not interested, then yesterday that he is.

Plus mid July, really? It takes that long? Another month?

      • LB, its been a non-stop contradiction, as you showed with Holbrooks inclusion also. I think all we can bank on are the direct quotes from JS, which there are none of here.

If JD has told the media he has ben unsuccessful, fair enough, but he isn't going to know who is still in the running or who is leading the way.

Ryles certainly has stayed very quiet, thats a good point. I wont be surprised if he is signed, I said in the beginning I feel it will come down to him & McDermott, but my money (hope) is still on B McD.

LB, also wouldnt bank on the mid-july thing. As with all other information these guys are throwing darts at as Axel said, I really don't see why the board would give the media a timeframe?

Unfortunately, we have to keep wading through this shit for a bit longer yet though.

        • NOS the longer this goes, i would be putting money on Ryles. But also i would not write off anyone at this point. The way Hannay was campaigning looked desperate to me, just did not like that too much. Ryles how he has stayed quiet could show confidence in himself and the process.

McDermott is definately not out of the question. As you said JD has had an interview but he would not know now how it went. Even if he did i doubt he would say anything until the process is finished.

Parramatta are in a good area here, no other jobs available. If these candidates want the job they wont be going anyway, so of course no need to rush. But there is also a need to get through this ASAP where they feel comfortabel as they need to start recruitment for 2025.

          • Agree on all, LB. Well said.

With the timeline, I hear you with recruitment (and retention), but this decision being so important for the next 3-10 years, id just prefer they don't rush at all.

Most of us are all in on Brian McDermott, but, if its not Brian, we just have to hope its the next best & whatever they pitched & planned to the board they can actually achieve.

Im still confident LB, very confident. Same level of confidence I had that we'd be top 4 last season.

            • "Most of us are all in on Brian McDermott' count me in 1000% on the McD selection, NOS. Thank god Madge and JD are off the radar.. Now to cancel TB and JH and JR and that leaves one.. It's going to be so hard to end up with something you don't want. I can only hope to be wrong if either rookie, JR or JH get the nod. If the board fracks this up and we fail again, nothing should save them from the next round of sackings!!

              • McDermott's gone I think, Rock Guy. Kendoza confirmed it. I'm just going to source it too.

  • Love how Demetriou all of a sudden a top 4 candidate despite not being mentioned on the initial top 5 list. No mention of Barrett either losing the job.

Again, i am not saying it is not these two, but the media are not doing well covering this with names floating everywhere. Waiting for Brett Finch himself to get a mention for a come back.

    • The media have no f***ing idea. They've been shut out by the board so they're throwing darts left, right & centre.

      • You could tell how hurt and embarrassed they were on BA's sacking. Went through he should be sacked but they will tell him to his face. When the club made them look like they were idiots and did what they say they wont do they all had a go at the club of how they treated BA poorly etc, despite them calling for his head weeks prior.

They have been embarrassed once before, imagine again if McDermott is hired and nobody saw it coming.
