An under-rated Eels team in 2016

Out of all the stores and pre season blogs and articals on NRL forums, we are never really featured as potential threats for a finals brith in 2016.You look at any of the stories that are coming out at the moment about top 5 forward packs, best halves pairings for 2016, top 5 backlines, best spines or predicted 2016 results; We are never mentioned or when we are its still around the 12 place spot.Individually our players receive some praise, Semi is seen to carry the team in the media'sEyes. we seem to be seen as a graveyard for players careers.I don't buy Into the stigma that surrounds us. and I love that we are under the radar and dismissed of doing anything meaningful in 2016.Are we being underestimated ?Will we break that stigma this year? What's your prediction for the eels?can we prove the doubters Wrong!!!

  • Yep, agree. We don't want our blokes reading any press about how we will play semis before the season kicks off. This is a nice tailwind for BA.
  • I honestly believe, even without further recruitment for this year, we can match it with the likes of the Bulldogs, Manly, Melbourne, who have been touted as finals material. I'd much rather be written off as finals contenders instead of being over-hyped.

    • I completely aggree. Just need the team to play like one and avoid injuries.
  • Im really looking forward to this year, people keep belting on about time to gel. They arnt saying that about teams like Manly who have many new players. Bring on 2016 cant wait

  • Under-promising and over-delivering would be a nice change for the Eels.

  • Really good blog. You are right, I haven't seen any article talk us up at all. I have no doubt BA will be saying we are not a top team and we have a lot to learn to the media each week if we get off to a flying start.

Saying that, I think our first month of football is a terribly hard draw.

    • It is a hard draw, really hope the pre season training gets them physically and mentally ready to get the job done.

      Thanks for the Complement Steve.
  • I believe we can finish between 6-12. We will not have any SOO players, so it will only be injuries  and the rub of the green that could decide our fate.

  • Can someone please explain to me how the draw is worked out ,how its done, who does it,is it random or carefully considered? Why does Parra just seem like easy prey for top teams in the first few rounds, same as last year a team coming from near the bottom playing five or six of the top teams in the first few weeks,is this to give favoured teams a leg up? Or just luck of the draw?
    • From what I've been reading mate and the way some teams reacted to they way draw seemed to disadvantage others. It's room full NRL head honcho's making it up. We certainly haven't got the hardest draw but some teams have got it pretty bloody easy. I.e the radiers.
