If you look at the Eels vs Roosters teamsheets, is there one member of our backline you would choose over the Rooster's opposite number? I'd suggest not. Maybe you might say Hayne is a more talented player than Anasta, but right now Anasta has about a decade's experience in Hayne on playing that position. I don't think there is a better indication of where we're at in terms of the roster we have now, when we can't win a single head-to-head battle across the backline with the team running 14th. And it's indicative of why we're struggling to score points and just what a big task we've had in front of ourselves this year. If you fast forward to next year's roster - most positions are pretty line ball.

    • morgan is probbably the fastest player in our side, behind only hayne maybe.
  • And Morgan has been a much improved player since moved to the wing.

  • My vision

2011 - 1st year Kearney to build structure, discipline & start to build a team. Great start by laying down the law with Tahu, Grotthe walking etc. I believe Kearny has achieved a 7.5/10 this year. I am looking further into the year then place on table. 16th  is disappointing, but I think we have been shit unlucky & few games that could've gone our way & the season may of been different. But we cannot live on what might of been. But the big thing for me has been the player retention & recruitmnet. Obviously Sandow is the jewel in the crown along with Roberts & Tonga.

If we run by the crede of a no dickhead policy then this one may struggle to get over the line. But he would be good for our team and can play lock, 2row or 5/8. Greg Bird. He still is unsigned for 2012. Probably will go the sharks, but gee he would be handy.

2012. I think we will struggle again to keep pace. May squeek into the top 8, but we will look a lot sharper. However this year we need to purchase a few more quaility players. to focus on 2013. We are week in 1, 3, 5, 9, 11. I'm not sure on the juniors side of things with player coming through, so leaving that alone for now, a scan around reveals the following players are available for 2013.

1 - Brett Stewart. Stanger things have happened. Probably unlikely, but you never know.

1 - Josh Dugan. Is looking to move. May end up at the rooters

    1 - Corey Norman.

    3 - G Beale

5 - Blake Fergusson. May fail the dickheads policy but he is a talent.

9 - I don't see anyone. We will need to perserve with Keating or manufacture a No.9.

11 - Hindy going or on last of the last legs. We need a superstar.

11 - Tariq Simms. Is a NSW person. Is a superstar in the making & Is very young. A must to chase

11 - Dave Taylor. Enough said. Unlikely to leave rabbits as he has a luv affair with big Russ.

So there you go. 2013 to win the comp with us purchasing Norman, Beale, Fergusson & Sims in 2012 for 2013.

    You herd it here first

  • Anasta's form at the moment is great, where as Hayne's is flagging... Ok Hayne does a few good things, but then undoes it with stupid plays... Hayne has enough experience now not to do these things. You look at Cherry-evans or Foran, these guys lead well, dont do stupid things, they back their ability... Hayne needs to do that.

As for the rest of our backline, attack is weak and defence is slack and woeful at times... If we are going to outscore the roosters, then backline has to show some finishing class.

I want to see the Hayne chip kicks of 09', where are they??? They led to try's...

The player the roosters miss at the moment is Aubusson, he is good. Lucky for us he is missing. He has cut us up last year.

    • Anasta was on the outer at the Roosters and at one stage they were looking to unload him. Opportunity missed by us. Would have been good with Sandow in halves.
  • Man tough one , the only strength we can look forward to is time and change. If the second starts with luck this weekend we mite get one last dodge at the spoon. go parra though somethings gotta give .
