All the hype over Paulo

Am I missing something with Paulo. In my opinion his form did not warrant ORIGIN selection. He has had a couple good games for PARRA. Why doesn't he run like Moi Moi used to? RCG any day of the week - surely?

  • He doesn't have the leg speed that moi moi had. His never really stepped up in origin has Paulo

    • Agree.

The speed of SOS is not suited to Paulo. They needed big middle forwards with fast leg speed, metre eaters with quick play the balls. Though Paulo has a big motor, he has neither of those physical attributes.

At club level, Paulo goes OK because he can play big minutes and has the occasional offloads.

  •  Yet he killed it for Samoa at the World Cup.

  • Oh i still mention RCG as possibly the most underrated and under appreciated Props in the NRL. Paulo however is good, can be better than his form this year but he is still a top quality Prop.

I feel since he has been named co-captain his game dropped slightly, not sure if it adds pressure to his game or not.

  • Agree his selection wasn't warranted but the were a lot of blues players that shouldn't have been selected

  • If he didn't play that halfa ripper game prior to game 1 , it's safe to say he was a good chance to be overlooked this year.

  • Now that Freddy will be shown the door, I think it'll be RCG and not Junior picked next year. I agree, he has been pretty disappointing. RCG is ahead of him IMHO.

I think when Fittler took over originally, the mantra was the team was picked on form, not pick and stick. Well that has certainly changed. Quite a few players have been picked are either carrying injuries or out of form. RCG has been injured though, but if they are serious, he is in the squad for G3.

    • Just have to ask Cleary if it's ok first.

      • I was trying to research how many  SOOs Tom T has won but haven't got time.  Such a talented player and heart breaking for him.   I remember how next level and above the combination  of Mitchell, Cleary and Tom T were in 2021 to win series as all three play with passion.  I notice  that Walker and  Cleary partnership won as well one year and was surprised how far back some players go.   Cleary has some idea as he has won three SOO.  I mentioned before 1st  game the combination of Cherry, Munster, Hunt and Harry the NSW halfback has to deel with.  I  love Burton plenty of heart, ticker and talent and should have been in side nearly first chosen.  I pull my hair out with the forwards though.   Some on here say it's a next level to NRL.  Luai has won a GF and lead Samoa to a final in World Cup (without NC) but was expected to be 6 and 7.

  • Paulo has had 1 good game all. BA needs to give him a tickle and remind him that Greig, Ogden and Offa are there to support RCG
