The Cronulla Sharks are closing in on landing the signature of Adam Reynolds with incoming coach Craig Fitzgibbon meeting with the South Sydney halfback in the last 48 hours.
The Sharks football department is preparing to table Reynolds a three-year deal through until the end of 2024 valued at around the $2.4 million mark.
Fox Sports has also been told Fitzgibbon had been speaking to Reynolds prior to the meeting with the new Sharks coach outlining his vision of why the premiership-winning no.7 should join him at Cronulla.
My opinion, with Adam Reynolds now off the market, losing Moses would be a disaster in our title campaign for years to come. No star quality halfbacks are on the market to 2023 and still aren't a improvement on Mitch. 1 or even 1.1 million a year might have to be paid or do with risk closing our title window.
Personally I would shop Matterson, N Brown or if any takers Lane just to keep a genuine #7 even if paid 100k to 200k more then what would be considered a good deal

I'm no fan of Brisbane either, but Johnson is probably a better fit for them at the moment. They need some old head who can start to rebuild some culture and to get Croft up to speed. I doubt Moses could do that just at the moment, and I'm sure he is aware that he can play his best football at Parra. If he thinks the pressure is on him at Parra, multiply that by 10 for Brisbane!
The thing is, he's spent his entire career either in building or rebuilding clubs. He's reached his prime years, he's figured out this game, he's finally in a premiership challenging situation, why would he then want to spend the absolute best years of his career in another rebuilding situation ?
Just wouldn't make sense.
Reynolds and Johnson at 600k are bargains.
I don't think Mitch will leave. But if Mitch decides to go for the big bucks reckon either one of those two would fit right in with us.
hope the club doesn't buy into the $1M hype and so far so good. We do have a cap and plenty of upgrading to do.
i think we've just arrived as a club and side, that players have to be willing to take a little less to play in. And that goes for Mitch who was on top money in the past as well.
If Moses stays its because he wants a premieship more than an extra 20% now. If he wants a premiership then he wont get it if he does a Hayne and makes it all about him. Leave some cap to keep a good team. get your premieship and then go for the money. If Boncos pay him $1.2m a year they wont have the cap space to keep a good team around him either.
