A win is a win ...but...

From where I sat in the western concourse:

Parra had enough ball to score twice as many points and did not look well organised close to the Manly line

Manly seemed to make more clean line breaks and scored with very little ball or opportunity. Our lauded defence was not tested very often but was found wanting on occasion.

Gutho kicked 4 from 5. He style seems to be to shovel the ball high and soft but if he can keep up an 80% success rate, we have a goal kicker. Not convinced yet as most of his attempts were not so hard.

Jennings is a talented player but he starves Semi for the ball. Why our best broken field runner and powerhouse winger doesn't see more ball from Jennings is a worry. Most of the Parra attack seemed to be directed to the other wing in any case

.

Lastly, the black members caps looked woeful. Hard to tell Parra supporters. Bring back the blue Parra cap!

  • Thanks Gus for the match report.
  • Norman mentioned that he expected the attack to be a bit rusty. I think this will gel but it might take a few games. We just need to hang in there and hopefully keep picking up some early wins.
  • Idiots, that know nothing about football...
  • It was the first game of the year ffs, 1st time that the spine has played together!
  • I want us to be perfect too but would you have taken the two points from Lottoland before the game?

Watch the press conference and see what BA says about the combinations.
  • Just home from Lottoland ( lol) from my position in a corporate box watching the Manly plebs get wet on the hill, I was happy, yes we could have scored another try, but as a new spine in the first game of the year, it showed great promise. Gutho is very promising as a 6.
A win is a win, so be happy.
    • Agreed a win against manly is a good win.
  • I agree 100%, whilst a win is a win I felt that manly played very well considering their lack of ball. Had things gone their way at crucial times the score could easily have been reversed. I would be proud of the boys had we defended that well.
  • Same thing as last year in attack, almost a mirror image.

  • Jenko has evolved, from a x factor to a solid player.
