I have been a long long suffering fan of the Eels.
And it has gotten to the point where I am questioning why?
Why do I care so much about this team?
Is it good for me?
Perhaps I should just switch off my loyalty and embrace another team.
I know logically that I would be a happier person, but I know deep in my heart that I will always be an Eel fan.
Sometimes I feel as though being an Eel fan has shaped my life.
I think if I followed another team, maybe I would be a different person, would have more confidence in pressure situations, etc.
I recently have moved to the Blue Mountains and I'm loving the way the Panthers are playing.
Is it wrong of me to forget the Eels for this year and just attempt to be a Panthers fan?
How much suffering is enough?
Seeing as though this year looks like a write off I'm sure many Eels fans are now getting behind their second team.
It just feels a bit dirty, but I love league surely should get some enjoyment from it.

As true Parra fan I have no second team! I will stick it out like always because it means when we do eventually win something it will just make it all so more sweet. If you are thinking of supporting another team you are not a true fan and good riddance to you sir
Each to their own Premier. No second team for me. Only teams that beat Canberra, Manly, C'bury, Melb and Brisbane i like watching.
Can't have a second team - it's just unnatural for me to cheer for anyone else. That's why i can't understand those who switch allegiance from one team to another.
Cant support another, its friggin painful, but Parra only. The fact you wrote this blog means you cant really follow another team. Mate I love league and watch every damn game I can on the weekend nrl local whatever. You dont have to support another team just enjoy rugby league and appreciate the talent on offer.
I actually rank each team on the level of dislike I have towards them. 1 being the Eels which I love, of course, and 16 being the team I dislike the most.
1. Eels

16. Broncos, Storm, Bulldogs, Sea Eagles, Raiders, Panthers, Titans, Rabbitohs, Dragons, Knights, Warriors, Cowboys, Roosters, Sharks, Tigers.
I understand, as you need something to keep you interested in your favourite sport.
No second team (it just woudn't feel authentic) but I like to get behind a club/team who seems to have come from nowhere. And anyone but Melbourne.
Newcastle beating Manly in 97, Manly destroying the Storm in 08 are some of my greatest league moments.
