When I arrived at the back of the Thornett stand last night, preparing to go to my seat I was surrounded by group of fans with pen and paper and or jumper about to request a signature from me! Of course, being one of the few sober natures gentlemen I was about to comply with their request. Just then they started evaporating and moving away a few metres to Jarryd Hayne! Truly, the price of fame is disappointment! However I was able to have a few words with Jarryd before his two very large minders dragged him away. I suggested to JH that when in the States he records all the coaching information he becomes privy to. I said that in few years he may come back to OZ and might pursue a career as a coach. What he learns there will be an invaluable asset to him. He smiled and nodded his head and was gone.
I took my seat in the stand and wished the fans, thai knew, to my right, a happy New Year. The seat on my left was vacant for a while but then the women Eels who usually sits there arrive complete with Eels shirt on. I wished her a Happy New Year also. She turned and planted a kiss on my lips!! It was the first time in twenty years or so that I have so kissed. With the full moon rising above the Cronin Stand,a clear night, a good crowd in and fireworks exploding in the sky ,I just knew that we must win tonight. It wasn`t to the eightieth minute that my reverie was cofirmed. Did anyone have such a Night To Remember?
