People are complaining about our defence around the ruck. We got penalised early for not getting off the tackled ball player. As a result we got gun shy and started letting the knights players up early. The Storm are allowed all kinds of liberties around the ruck and always have their hands all over the ball. They wouldn t have been penalised. We were offerred no time in dominant tackles and as the knights players rose from the ground and moved 2 to 3 metres off the mark. Again no penalties. Under the circumstances. We played ok today. Its hard to beat a team that the ref is assisting. Furthermore Sivo s try before half time was a try. 20 - 12 at half time. That makes a massive difference.

Newcastle won in the first 20 minutes by;
A) stepping through the ruck in attack, and
B) crowding us in the ruck when defending.
- the refs have zero control of the ruck and are suspicious regarding their consistency in this area. Yes I'm talking about Cameron Smith and Melbourne Storm.
Yep, they seemed to be allowed to wrestle us forever, we got 3 penalties in quick succession straight up for very minor ruck wrestling. Unfair
Completely agree, it was like we were playing touch football at the start ridiculously quick play the balls, the refs are not getting this even at all, last week it worked in our favour this week the opposite it’s as if a team each week gets a smoother run.
Also agree on that Sivo try was critical, that is now 4 disallowed tries in 3 games in a row with at least 3 of those being incorrect. Surely ba has to raise this with Annesley to at least highlight it because in two games it had a major impact.
No doubt Parra needs to send a "please explain" to the NRL as to why Newcastle were able to lay all over the tackled player but we were penalised for doing the same. It's poor refereeing like this that is killing the game.
I normally get fed up with the constant complaining about the refs (sorry Monts) after a loss, but I agree this time they were terrible.
