So I have been thinking if Sterling and co. played today what paycheck would they be commanding? I'm not talking about fitting those legends under a salary cap but by how much would they break the salary cap.
1. Paul Taylor: $300-400K
2. Neil Hunt: $200-$300K
3. Michael Cronin: $400-500K
4. Steve Ella: $350-450K (Injury hurts his value slightly).
5. Eric Grothe Snr: $350-450K
6. Brett Kenny: $500-600K
7. Peter Sterling: $550-650K
8. Bob O'Reilly: $450-550K
9. Steve Edge: $500-600K
10. Stan Jurd: $350-450K
11. Peter Wynn: $350-450K
12. Steve Sharp: $375-475K
13. Ray Price: $500-600K
That Top 13 comes in at $6,475,000. With still a further 12 players to be included. What other legendary teams or players could command a hefty paycheck in today's game.

if you are paying bob o Reilly at 80's bob - 150000.
edge was a great captain but a solid first grader - 300000
Stan Jurd 200000
sharp 150-200000
i think that is the Danger in looking at it from young eyes- the stories and legends get away from the reality.
grothe, Kenny, Ella, Cronin, Kenny sterling and price were surrounded by solid first graders.
you are right though in that we would struggle to fit under the cap. unless of course they changed club colors to blue and white
I was referring to the Bear in his prime. According to most people he was as good as Beetson. I thought I had over-valued Sharp and Jurd. However I did think I was in the right area for Edge given his reputation at Saints.
Ye good luck holding onto that team. The parra team of the 80's would not be possible today.
That's my point. How much would their full value be in today's market?
