A good performance can lead to a kick-start

We do not even need a win tomorrow night to kick start our season again. A decent performance and holding our own will do wonders for us. Manly next week, there is a strong chance players could be annoyed. Could be squad unrest in Brooky leaning in our favour, a good performance leads to us getting some good form in order to beat Manly at Brooky then follow it up with Souths the following week.

Parramatta do not even need to win, just a performance where we walk out going he gave our all and were nearly faultless, just Penrith were slightly too good, then BA got them up and that is all we can ask for, not only do we need form but we need confidence, a great performance will give us confidence.

All week i have predicted we will hold our own in first half then Penrith will break away and get a very convincing win, but with Luai and Crichton out, i do not think we will win but if we keep it close and give Penrith a scare, then full marks to BA and the playing group.

    • Coryn, what good is another late season revival to ultimately fall short again though? If that is the pinnacle of what we can hope for, then yes there is a case that winning a few hard games & ultimately going nowhere, could be detrimental to our future if it prevents change.

Dont get me wrong, Id still love to see it happen & never want to see our team lose, however unless we make a Prelim or Grand Final, then is it really enough success to warrant trying again under the same guise next season?

Will watch, will support, and hope for the best for BA & the team as always. However we arent all haters purely because we do feel BA being here next season is a negative.

      • Only thing is NOS, the last 8 weeks or so, making week 2 would seem like a win to some at the club, the way Gold Coast, Newcastle, Wests, Warriors and Canterbury are all going the board will see one finals win as a success compared to how we were going mid year.

Though i feel to get a finals win we need to finish 5th or 6th, with how conjested the 8 is now, if we lose tomorrow with a massive score on our for and against, it will make it difficult to get a home semi and finish 7th or 8th.

        • Thats my point exactly, LB.

What the club views as a successful season & therfor justifies a decision to not go through with a payout of BA & change of head coach for '23, almost certainly doesnt align with what the majority of fans believe.

Especially going off current form as you mentioned - a 5th/6th finish & a finals win or even 2 might be enough for the club from here.

Would it be enough for us to back another season under the same voice, methods, defensive & attacking systems? Very unlikely.

          • Added to that is if we stick with BA we get sucked into extending him to keep continuity in the playing group. It is a circle, do not want to pay him out, but extend to avoid issues with playing group, then repeat.

        • Agree, well said.

        • Yeah nicely said Coryn to be fair. Though if BA wins a title it is a million to one chance of being sacked for the next half a decade LOL.

            • But Coryn if there was would they know it? If Bennett is available would they go for him? I am not sure.

    • Or COVID Coryn haha.

I am apart of the brigade somewhat of getting rid of BA, but wont go full force until season's end when i have the data to prove my point one way or the other. But last month of footy has been crucial now if we do well then we could be revived, if we do poorly then that is it officially in my eyes.

  • I have to disagree. A win is the only thing that can turn things around but even a win tomorrow night is a small step. If we can string together 4-5 in a row I might start to believe again.
