Don't count the Eels out just yet as the bulk of our home games are still to come.8 out of our final 10 matches are at ANZ Stadium, but the crucial match up will be next Sunday v St George.Win that leading into a couple of byes and we'll be looking ok, with a few more injured stars to return. The only two away games left will be against a depleted Storm - No Cronk Smith BillyChambers ect. The other traveling to Brisbane. There are no excuses for the effort last night, buy after an extremely disruptive recent injury run with so many positional changes, I think the team deserves the benefit of the doubt at least until they gain cohesion as a group.

  • BA seemed quite pissed off too from what he said. He doesn't often talk about giving away penalties, but that is what has been hurting us the most along with dropped balls. Hopefully the team can get it together more consistently from here on.
  • Will I for one all  ready have count the Eel out of the top 8 we will come 10 our forward are to soft and I don't care we play Storm without there rep players they are still a great side so are the dragons

I think our next win will be in round 20 against the tigers

  • Chief we won't be there even if we turn form around.
The refs dictate possession in games and I can't remember the last penalty count we won?
Even if we sneak in we will be cannon fodder for the opposition- but honestly can't see us making it.
Looked at draw the only teams above us likely to slide if they potentially drop some form are Manly and Dragons but their draws aren't as tough as I thought. We will need a lot to go our way to jump those sides. Our for/against is deplorable yet again.
  • We need to win 5 more games to make the top 8 with two byes to come as well that would put us on 28pts
28pts will get you to 8th
We can only loose 5 more games

Do we play the dragons without there rep players?

I wouldn't be making to many changes but I think Gutherson needs to be fullback and French to wing
Also S Vave needs to come in to give us some size up front
    • No our F/A is rubbish, we will need win 6 game and finish on 30 points just to make sure we are safe.  Just like in 2014 our for and against will cost us.  Mainly through poor defence and being unable to finish teams when we have our foots on their throats.  4 years on and still not much has changed, the attitude of the playing group us still rubbish when pressured by a decent team.

  • Agree Al - we need 30 points to scrape in.

Even on last night's performance 30 is possible - I doubt it though.

More than anything I reckon we need to buy a big prop. A GOOD ONE. Not some mid carder on "moneyball" dollars, as you so well put it.

    • It's like BA and the clowns in charge of recruitment watched that movie and think they have found some amazing new way to juggle the cap.   It's another new way to mediocrity so i suppose it will fit right in at this club.

      • Yeah - what I don't get is that we supposedly have a heap of cash to spend under the cap but it seems we are chasing no one who is anyone. They've signed Moses on big bucks (fair enough) but that doesn't exactly cover the loss of Foran, Peats, Junior and shortly Semi.

I've been watching Kane Evans today - i'm not exactly excited.

I seriously believe our team can get better though mate - there is ability there - but if they sit on their hands and don't improve the roster the best we can hope for is bottom of the top 8 - certainly no titles or GF's.

Teams like the Broncs and Roosters actively improve their roster pretty much EVERY year - regardless of where they have finished the previous year. Not us :)

        • Bang on as usual Kram, the top clubs are unhappy at not winnings comps.

We are Parramatta are happy just as long as we don't win spoons.  There's the difference.

  • The simple reasons for last nights loss are:
    1) Norman & Moses haven't played or trained much together.
    2) Players still carrying injuries.
    3) Playing in Darwin very humid place (Cowboys would be more used to those conditions).
    4) players playing out of position ( Gutherson, Davis)
    5) Again some terrible refs decions ( especially in first 50 - 60 minutes of game).
The Eels will make the 8!
