8 games left

I realise that we don't want to get carried away with our position on the ladder, but there are 8 games left and 16 possible points on offer - how many points do you think we'll end-up with?

We play Manly (A), Warriors (H), Dragons (A), Knights (H), Titans (A), Bulldogs (H), Broncos (A), Manly (H). Considering our away record, we might win the Titans game away and I think we will drop either the knights or the Manly game at Home.

So 4 out of 8 for me and we end-up on 28 points - in 7th or 8th position.

To finish in the top 4, we will need to win 6 or 7 out of 8 - a tall order I would have thought.

  • Look, we don't want to get carried away with our position on the ladder.

  • I think we will finish on 30 - 32 between 7-5.

Be nice if we could win this weekend and really push for that top 4

  • 8/8. Call me crazy, but I think the only teams that will test us are Knights (always do) and Manly. We've actually got a really good record against Manly though - aside from that game we won't speak about (round 2 2018), we've had their number

  • Not trying to get carried away, but on current form you’d think we can win 7 of 8. The the Manly game at Brookie this weekend the one we drop. But I’m not going to make a definite prediction, I’m taking it week by week, but I will say you’d think winning 4/8 would surely lock us in for a spot in the 8, and I’d just be happy to play finals honestly, our chances of making the finals is now in our own hands. We are 4pts in the 8 currently. Up to the boys to seal it up over the last 2 months of the season.

    • I'm optomistic and I'll think we'll only drop 2 games by season's end. Our opposition is none of the top 4 who are the pace setters.

If we can beat Manly at Brookie this weekend then that will definately buoy us for the rest of the campaign.

I just look at the Dragons and Sharks rosters and scratch my head how they are out of the top 8. They are really strong on paper. Yet again, Manly have been the opposite and punching well over their weight (roster) division.

I and most had us at 12th spot, delighted we've over -achieved SO FAR.

  • It would be good to win 5 of 8 because you’d suggest that would give us a home semi.

Look to be honest I’d almost prefer to finish 5th or 6th rather than 4th. If we finish 4th we play storm away and in all probability lose, possibly badly. Let’s get a finals win ffs! How long since we did that? And then see how far we can take it from there.

How good would it be to play someone like the panthers at bankwest and farken smash em! That would probably do me for the year.

  • Axel,

4 more wins, 28 points, would likely be enough of an entry pass into the finals.

For a total of 13 wins (30 points under 2 bye, 26 round system).

But you wouldn't want to scrape into the finals with that poor form: a 50% winning ratio.

I would want to drop only 2-3 games, for say 14-15 wins, 30-32 points, to give as as much of a chance of doing something. Building confidence, courage and toughness. Then playing like our lives are on the line.

The other week I was looking at the top 8, for every year in the last 16 years, since 2004 (when golden point started): 11-13 wins has been enough of an entry pass to the top 8.

Except for last year. Incredibly, only 1 win separated no.1 from no.8, 15 or 16 wins - and points differiential separated the teams. But this year doesn't fit that outlier. There are bunches of teams on 6, 7, 8, 9 wins and a gap at the top with Storm on 14 wins.

    • Looking at who we play and with 8 rounds to go, we should win at least 4/5 that should get us in to the 8, to get there we need our strongest team picked each week, there also needs to be more affective defensive options across the board. The biggest aspect to me with the win against the tigers was the failure in keeping the opposition out with their expansive playing style, unless that's fixed and countered, we will be just making up the numbers.

  • Even teams coming last can beat us.

Dogs are playing well and Titans have surprised before.

We need to just take each game one at a time. If we ease off against anyone we will lose

  • I think we win all our home games and win one away game against the titans
