6 new recruits underway as Eels.

Josh Hodgson, Jack Murchie, J'Maine Hopgood, Jirah Momoisea, Daejarn Asi and Matt Doorey all at training together. Hopefully they aren't the only new recruits, but nice to see them finally in Eels colours offically. From reports Hodgson is leading by example, nothing more frightening than a competitive player with a point to prove. Hopgood is the diamond in the rough who could be a real find like Papali'i was. Asi is practically a Perham replacement, that utility type to have in the squad. Doorey could be a real back-rower competitor, just injuries have gotten in the way. Murchie is that workhorse that is already in the 17, just where in the 17 is the question. Momoisea can play Prop or in the backrow, had injuries in the past, maybe change of scenary could make him a decent, versitile bench player.

Exciting to see the trials and how these players go.

  • Really looking forward to Hodgson and Hopgood. Hodgson fit - could really help our ruck attack - and what I have seen of Hopgood - looks like a footballer with a high work rate!

    • At training is of course training well, but might add that leadership we are sorely lacking.

    • I can't wait to see his one on one strip's. Something we rarely do but could be a real game changer. Munster and hodgsen are the two best at it.

  • No mention how long Asi is signed for.

    • Well it's strange as I saw it mentioned as a two year deal but some outlets show it as a one year deal

Could be an option involved there

      • Yes. Then there is the weak rumour he is going to the cows next year.

        • What Asi going back to NQ in 2024? I doubt that considering Payten was the one that didn't want Asi due to his work ethic.

          • Bloke in a Bar podcast claims its happening. I dont know if he knows something or was just talking out his arse.

  • Asi may depends if Dylbags signs.

    • Asi really needs to put in thru preseason to prove he has the work ethic required.

      Good reports so far.
