37th Minute Field Goal

Can someone please explain why we go for a field goal in the 37th minute when we are in an attacking position with the possibility of forcing an extra set down their end?

The missed field goal is where it all started to go down hill and it was almost like it was a sign that we had threw in the white flag because it was getting too hard.

For me this shown we are still a very weak side mentally.

Can anyone come up with a defence for this madness?

    • Dying minutes of the first half I'm ok with but gifting them a 7 tackle set..... Really?

      The gamble really paid off.

      • I said the same thing champ only to get negative reply back on the live feed that it was the right choice it was obviously the wrong choice especially when there fatigued by that point.

        • Kev there are a lot of heavily biased people on this site.

I always thought I was overly biased in watching our team play but some are to another level which is very disturbing.

          • They need to go on a diet if heavily biased

  • Nah don't see the problem in context of where that game was at that time. Kick it and we are in front getting the ball back.

  • Probably one set too early to avoid the consequences of missing, but if he had of hit it it would have been a good choice. Sometimes you have to back yourself. MM was under pressure- NC was under zero pressure. We rarely put any pressure on NC kicks??? He was obviously a key player and obviously should have had pressure on him.

    • Wile I said that same thing about pressure on Cleary's kicks.

Maybe we were just too fatigued to make that extra effort.

      • JB, sorry but you don't understand the game. No way was there a justified criticism of going for the field goal, any more than going for the penalty goal. Penrith missed 5 tackles, we were hardly tearing them apart. The Physc of going in a point up worked for Panthers..... some of you buffoons that watch the game still feel like they are chess pieces you can carefully move into space.....try making a judgement in half a second based on your experience of 150 first grade games and an idiot in the crowd saying.....why did he do that....try it some time.

        • I'm not surprised by this response and wouldn't expect anything different from such a Low IQ self appointed know it all.......

          • Yes John, you are the know all here.....did you realise what happened in the final last year against Penrith.

8/6 Penrith at half time and that was also the fulltime score....but you knew that didn't you and the others that said No as well.....Cleary and Arthur both said they agreed with the decisions, but they would not have your awareness JB....would they?
