3 decades and counting

We have the biggest junior nursery in the comp and have not been able to land one decent half in 30years! How is that even possible, we have bought average halves but nothing special. Yet we are here struggling and trying to fumble our way to signing a great one for years to come. C'mon parra stop being the laughing stock of the comp!!

  • We don't have the biggest junior nursery in the comp at all. Canberra, Brisbane, Newcastle have a lot more than us and NZ has an entire country to pick their local juniors from.

  • Ok ham thanks for clarifying that champ but you get what I mean, in SYDNEY we do but yet other clubs like the roosters, dogs, manly, penrith have all had some great halves were are ours? Too much emphasis on size is there problem
    • Well we developed Trent Hodkinson but let him go. We also developed Albert Kelly but he didn't have his screwed on properly. We developed Tim Smith but he had mental problems. There's 3 that I can quickly think of that were in our system for a while. Roosters developed Pearce and? Dogs developed Thurston but let him go, after that who have they developed that is a star half? Where's Penrith's? They've had to bring in Soward and brought back Wallace after his prime. Even now their back-up half Isaac John wasn't part of their system.

There aren't too many star halves running around.

    • I meant in the previous 30 years, gower for penrith.
  • Asking too much.

Your asking for a naturally creative 80 minute half who can defend.

Most halves have that natural creativity trained out of them, for the sake of percentage play, by the time they are sixteen.

The only natural creative half in the NRL is Jonathon Thurston.
