"Pezet had 3 runs, 5 kicks, 2 errors, and 3 try assists. Let's be frank, two of his try assists were fluke kick/regather efforts by others and his try a fluke kick/regather by himself. Ryles played possum about what he has to work on in the press…"

From what I have seen in our 20's this year..Nathan Davis looks a very..very good prospect....
Some good names in the squad. Awesome effort from French and Twal to be picked in the camp considering they were still eligible for SG Ball this year. Hopefully it's a sign of good things to come from them in the 20's next year.
Never got to see much of French but Twai was very impressive in his limited amount of games. Davis will play first grade for us in the next 18months IMO while Lussick did a great job backing up Kaysa. We should give the comp as good shake again next year.
Our forward pack in the NYC will be relatively similar next year, our biggest loss for this team in the forwards is Tepai Moeroa but we were winning games when he wasn't in the team so we can do it without him. In his place we'll see Tyrell Fuimaono step up as we did late this year. Tyrell brings a different game to Tepai, he's more agile on his feet and has better passing and more frequent offloading than Tepai. But he is still able to cart the ball up when needed and is strong defensively.
Our backs will go through the biggest change and we'll miss starting off sets on a good foot without Lavaka, Goodall, and Li taking the first hit-ups. But we should see the introduction of French who may move Davis back to centre, and we'll be getting Tui Oloapu who was pretty good in the SG Ball this year. Hopefully John Fomai is still with us and that will be another wing spot covered. We could also be bringing in external players for next year that haven't been announced because they're NYC players.
Should be a good year for the NYC in 2015. I'm not sure we'll see the team do as well as they did this year but I can see them making the 8, also depends on injury and promotions throughout the year.
congrats to the boys that made the pathways to origin camp.
this is a great start to their future endeavours.
It is pleasing to see that according the club (in their statement celebrating the Pathways selections) that Bevan French has gained 11KG of lean muscles mass since joining the club. He was slated at 80KG in his player profile at the beginning of this year so after considering that some of that 11KG would have been gained in the year's preseason, hopefully he will be pushing the mid-to-high 80s on the scale next year.
Congratulations to all the junior Eels involved in the Australian School Boys Tour or Origin Pathways Camp and well done to the club for facilitating the selections.
And to think we could have had more players in this camp. Troy Dargan, Tyrell Fuimaono, and Tom Amone are all overseas destroying the English teams and weren't picked for this team. Then you also have Tepai Moeroa who was overlooked for this camp because he'll probably be picked for the senior squad. Can't wait to see Bevan French in the NYC next year, has some massive wraps on him and hopefully he makes that next step into the NYC.
Forty, the first bit of press I saw on Bevan was this - http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/huge-wrap-on-parramatta-... - so when he came to the club appears he was 76kg, so you'd think he's probably at that mid to high 80's level. That's getting up towards Billy Slater-like stats which is probably the kind of benchmark I guess a young sub six foot fullback would want to be looking at.
Interesting comments on that same article about Nathan Davis too. Shows he's come a very long way in a short amount of time so who knows where his ceiling is. I thought he may have joined ZDC in the NRL pre-season training, although I guess with the likes of Goodall and Folau stepping up those spots maybe a little crowded.
Slater really is the benchmark for that type of build so I'm really keen to see what French can do at that playing weight.
From the looks of it, Davis has a similar story to Ryan Matterson. If I recall correctly, Matterson was scouted from grade footy for Wenty by Nolan. It does make you wonder what talent has slipped through the net in recent years but on the other hand it is a credit to the club that they are now finding these boys.
Nathan was there on Day 1 of the preseason so he is obviously in the minds of the coaching staff. He has plenty of footy talent and nous so more than anything he really needs to focus on physical development so I imagine there is a plan there for it.
Bevan's time spent playing in the halves will help him a lot. He will have the speed and agility of someone like an RTS but that ball-playing element is needed in the modern game and that could be a big thing for French to develop so that he isn't too one-dimensional.
