Personal thoughts:
1) Papalii is a Parra supporter who looked up to Hayne. From what I've seen and heard, he was very open to playing anywhere under Ciraldo, including number 14. Would see how he goes on the wing as he's played there in his juniors as well! I guess this rules out Faalogo or Paps!
2) still short on a starting hooker, let alone depth in the hooker role. Such a vital position and can make or break the whole year. I love Hands, but just don't know if he's a premiership winning hooker

Personally I think that is a very fast and impressive squad. Plenty playing for a position. The next man up can very easily be a starter. This is what we've been missing. Excited to see the dynamic shapes they all play off Moses and Brown next year.

Will update this (hopefully) as we move along to Round 1!

Until then, LET HIM COOK!

  • Alamadine is not on a dev deal yet.

  • Yeah I don't think we are done. 2 spots in top 30, maybe 3 with Gutho.

    Hooker is on cards, though we need younger than Brailey. Plus a Prop perhaps. I think we sign a Winger too.

  • Omg can people stop rating Kelma Tuilagi! He absolutely stinks

    • He has so much potential mate and we saw it at stages last year. Just need to fix up some discipline.

      • Agreed EA, he improves his decision making skills and he'll be a force

    • Is he one to rely on in terms of automatic starter? No, but he is not that bad. Simple 6.5-7/10 player who had some nice games in 2024.

      • He is on the bench for me. Definitely not a starter.

  • Matterson will be in the 17, depending on the teams pre-seaon could even be in the starting 13

    • Yeah he was actually pretty consistent this year. A different voice could take him to the next level he's been promising for years.

  • This is what I have. Obviously things can change depending on performances during pre-season.

    BOLD = top 30.

    Underline = development contract

    Rumoured to be leaving:

    • Lussick - hope he is gone.
    • Gutho - 50/50 still

    Rumoured to be joining:

    • Volkman - I believe Hawkins is only there to be a backup halfback. If Gutho leaves, we will need definitely need a backup 5/8 so I believe we will get Volkman. Even if Gutho stays I can see us going for Volkman.
    • Wilson - With Ado-car likely leaving, I doubt Wilson leaves the dogs .
    • Brailey - We still need a hooker as Hands is a depth player. Get rid of Lussick too. I have a feel we need to get rid of Gutho to afford Brailey.

    Summary of top 30:

    So we currently have 28 players on a top 30 contract and 4 on a development contract. I personally believe Lussick and Gutho will leave and Brailey and Volkman will join which will give us a top 28. If that is the case we will still need a quality winger as I prefer Papali'i as a backup winger at this stage of his career unless he kills in the pre-season. We also need a quality starting backrower as I prefer Williams in the middle, but I am not a fan of Carty or Doorey as first choice. Plus Guymer is a better middle. I will say this too. We have a bucket load of talent in the forwards coming through.I am surpised we kept Keir purely because he has reached his ceiling and I feel like he is just blocking the pathway of our juniors. To be fair injuries do happen so spots do become free in cup.

"Yea I like Samrani as a 17 rather than a starting backrower. Tuilagi will probably be selected this week with Guymer back on the bench or cup. Latu needs a couple more games in Cup before being a chance of NRL selection I would think."

"Yep thats the thing. I dont think anyone expected some players to be so much on the outer and JR blood so many younger players. Its why we are suffering this short term pain. Hopefully its better for the long run."
