While I have hope for a finals berth, I am also very pragmatic that the climb ahead is very steep and that we most likely will not make the 8. So I look towards 2024 and what we need to make our team more successful.
1. We need a winger - fast and strong - good under high ball - and able to grind metres out from the back. Someone who puts pressure on Russel and Sivo fighting for a spot. (I miss Fergie)
2. We need a centre - our season improved out of sight last year when Penisini and Opacic clicked as our centre pairing. A serious centre that plays smart and hard, with the ability to beat a man one on one.
3. A new defensive coach. Our edges have been a issue at various times for the past few years. It doesn't matter who we put in - (though it tightened up with Tom) - so its obviously our structure or how we coach the team to run the structure. Either way - someone who can put some steel into our system is needed.
4. Some commonsense - this year with Matto, RCG and Dylan having obvious brain fades at various stages has affected the 17 we can field.
I think we have the core to be very successful, with the right attitude, a better defensive plan and some useful additions, 2024 could be an awesome year. I'd love to hear peoples thoughts.

Possibly a new coach with fresh new ideas would be a bad inclusion either
1. New coach would have been nice.
2. Definitely new defensive coach
3. New outside backs ( centre and winger) as you touched on.
I would actually be trying to poach back opaciac or go for Olam.
Winger's we should be sweet with the young bloke who had a run on the weekend.
Definitely more commonsense and less injuries will do is alot better. But we didn't start the year off to well nearly fit besides matto. Matt lodge might go alright under ba.
Need more depth in the second row
Toovey for defence coach?
we still need a world class Centre and one that can defend well who can help organise ours on the field. Penisini is a Talent but I think he still has a long long way to go to be a consistent player, still has many defensive flaws. A good robust winger for depth.
However I think we need changes to our defensive systems either through new voices to help Brad or a new head coach.
Of course peni has defensive flaws, what 21 year old centre doesn't......the problem is not the coach but the culture of Parra being able to tread the "grey" areas of paying for the right players......cattle and culture.....breaking in a new coach and seeing him fail half a season in and our mob wanting to sack him will not win us a comp......we have to get back to competeing at a higher level because Broncs are only going to get better with this year behind them!
Fast and strong winger and lots of Smart footy brains/ plays.
Micheal Jennings was a good centre
Michael Jennings is a prop now. Long gone.
Well the answer is in Brisbane, you would get Corey Oates for 450k and that answers every question with regard to the winger. The hard part is getting him to want to come, the same goes with most players we try to attract. If Broncs win a comp this year, then Oates may come for the money but he may stay for less if it means he has to wait another year to win one, if he can make the side. The Broncs have a competition window for at least the next 3 years and enormous depth.
Tom Opacic is not the answer to our woes, he has no attacking ability and is a solid backup centre, Olam is your man subject to overcoming whatever he did at Storm to upset them.....my guess is you would get Olam for around the same price, Waka leaving pays for one of them and I sense that we have money available for the other one.
This leaves a forward, I am confident that Joe O will fill that middle as well as Emu going to another level in 2024.
The other player maybe opportunistic but should be a utility back that can play in the halves and maybe hooker as well.
NB Drooper what was the point of bringing Mick Jennings into the commentary, we all know how good he was, so were the Thornetts! plus you want to change the coach but as usual you have no idea who with.
I reckon Corey Oates and Olam would be great pick ups. I like Jack Bird too!
