2022 Awards, so far. (bit of Monday fun)

So with 6 games of the regular season left, i feel we could do this for some positives on here for once and some fun. I think also, most of these choices can be decided by now as i do not see any rise in our season from here on out. We can revisit again after our last game whenever that is but for now let's have some fun with some categories.

Player of the year

Rookie of the year

Buy of the year

Most Improved

Most Disappointing

Biggest Story of the year

Highest Moment of the year

Lowest Moment of the year

2023 prediction

Of course, i will start

Player of the year: Well Moses for me has to be, as majority of our wins he has been the influence. When he is on we are on song, though his inconsistencies lead to our team being the same.

Rookie of the year: Well nobody has made their NRL debut this year, as of yet, with El-Zakham being the only one looking like he might. To my rule, once they have played an NRL game, the following year they are no longer a rookie, though for this i will go by the NRL rule which is maximum 5 games. On that basis by default have to Makatoa as he has appeared in every game this year, only other option could be Rodwell, though i feel Rodwell will have the better career for us, Makatoa has played all 18 games so far.

Buy of the year: So in a season where our only signings were Simonsson, Rein and Ogden, and the latter two have a combined 2 NRL games for us this year, by default it has to be Simonsson. Not a great year for him at all, shown glimpses of being decent, he is a goer and never gives up but only 3 tries in 18 games in pathetic if you ask me, considering Fergo on the same side averaged 8 tries per year. But by default it has to be him as no other buy for us has warranted this spot.

Most Improved: Dylan Brown, though still inconsistent he has had a much better 2022 than 2021, very simple pick for this and will be surprised if he is not for everyone else. Matterson could make an argument for also, but Brown has played more and has had a bigger leap from one year to the next.

Most Disappointing: There are a few you could put on this list, though Simonsson i feel has to be it. Coming in replacing Fergo who was not a bad winger for us, we signed him as a replacement with promise and he has no faith in fans, to the point where an average game calls for us to say "He did well". I like Simonsson due to his potential and heart, he is a tryer, he keeps going, hope his 2023 is much better with Dunster breathing down his neck.

Biggest Story of the year: BA link to Canterbury, very unexpected and not sure if true but that was a massive story when released.

Highest moment of the year: Beating Penrith in Penrith, massive gives us hope moments that Parra have done for decades now.

Lowest moment of the year: Canterbury loss, the game that i believe could be the one that we can look back on and say is where BA lost the squad if he is gone at the end of the year, only one good performance since then, against the Roosters.

2023 prediction: We will play footy, lol i kidd, it is hard considering who we have bought so far and some loose ends such as is Papali'i backflipping or leaving? Who will coach us in 2023? These make a prediction at this stage harder of course as one decision changes a prediction in an instant. If i am to make one, i would say for Hodgson to be comeback player of the year, for one year at least. I have this feeling having an entire year off with no niggles, clear mind and excitement in the big city, knowing he is near the end he will want to have two more good years to wrap his career.

Let me know your choices and if i am dead wrong at all, have some fun, if you want to make some joke picks go for it. I can see a few JA picks and that is fine go for gold hahaha.

    • The story is more a prediction Badger haha, though will say it will be a big story if so.

      • Player of the year - RCG

Rookie of the Year - Russel - feels like he has been ripped off not getting another shot - be surprised if he doesn’t look elsewhere

Buy of the year - 👎

Most Improved - Dylan fallen a way a little but haven’t they all - Lane has been back to his old self as well

Most disappointing - sadly our coach - still can’t get it together with bench situ and can’t motivate the team to play at their best....it’s what a good coach primarily does ie motivate.

Biggest Story - think it will be a case of new coach for us in off season.

Highest Moment - Stone winning it for us against Storm...footy heaven.

Lowest moment(s) - repeated  lack of defensive intensity - our strong point now our weakness it’s sad.as an aside, its not often mentioned, but I feel we really miss Stone in defensive huge hits dept

2023 - sadly with so many of our best players leaving and probably a new coach needing time, reckon our finals days will be over for next year.

    • What about Quickest to be dropped after speaking the truth - Nathan Brown.

      • Hilarious.

I love how some players are immune to being dropped, such as Bailey Noseface, while others are rubbed out never to play first grade again like Brownie and Carty. Meanwhile, peanut coach finds a spot for his very mediocre son whenever he can.

Wake up Parra! This man is taking you all for a ride.
