2019 Line Up

Why aren't we excited for 2019?

1) Jarryd Hayne/Bevan French - Who knows at this rate what's going on there

2) Blake Ferguson

3) Michael Jennings

4) Clint Gutherson

5) George Jennings

6) Mitchell Moses

7) Corey Norman

8) Junior Paulo

9) Kaysa Prichard

10) Shaun Lane

11) Peni Terepo

12) Marata Niukore

13) Nathan Brown

14) Reed Mahoney

15) Tim Mannah

16) Tepai Moeroa

17) Another Jr?

I know there is a lot of uncertainty about Jarryd Hayne/Michael Jennings, but either way we shouldn't be too disappointed. At the end of the day, everyone played like trash in 2018 - you don't forget how to play footy overnight so I think we should right off that season and remember that we actually were quite good in 2017, and just missed a few key positions in 2018. This our clubs fault, not just Brad Arthurs. We now have good depth in our key coaching roles, and should be on board to play finals football.

We've got a powerhouse in Fergo, a machine in Paulo, and Shaun Lane had a pretty good season with Manly despite them being shit house. Our forward pack is fine, we just need our halves to work well like they did in 2017. Allow Corey to control the side, and Moses to play his best football at 6. He was practically playing 6 in 2017, and I think him and Corey overcalling one another was the reason the playing group was so confused in 2018. At the end of the day, it's the coach's job to ensure the team are getting along.

    • If we re-sign Hayne he is definitely our fullback.
      • If he is re-signed only because Jennings gets his Newcastle contract, then I think it'll be pretty clear Hayne will be a centre. It's a sad state of affairs that the wooden spooners can't even keep their players.

    • I don’t know why everyone wants him to be our fullback. He played one game there and did stuff all and we got belted. we rely on him too much there and he starts overplaying his role.
  • We are already lacking in the centres big time, if we lose Jennings it will be diabolical for our defense, we put Hayne there and we are left with French at fullback. Put Hayne at FB then who plays centre?Gutherson is too slow for centres, it is a position we have been lacking in for years besides MJ , but he goes down and we are throwing in Taka (too slow) Hoffman (too shite)and even Mau Has been tried. We need specialist centres even average ones are better than second rowers or wingers playing there.
    • Centres don't need to be fast these day's, it helps but isn't the key to being a good centre, the ability to defend against set plays is more important.

I would give Salmon a crack there if we have injury problems but if Jennings is gone I would start with Taka and Gutho.

  • Lagos. Terepo is not 2nd row, don’t mind Lane at prop tho
    Terepo brings energy off bench
I’d start Mannah with Alvaro off bench playing big mins for Jnr
  • Norman Jennings gutho Hayne fergo Moses salmon Paulo kaysa alvaro nuikore lane brown mahoney merora terepo mannah
  • I don’t mind our line up at all this year. We’ve recruited the best we could in the circumstances. Our problem is still depth in middle forwards but If we have even just a bit of luck with injuries this year I think we will make the semis.

  • How disappointing, we sign paulo and fergo, and lose many, and with the real possibility of losing Hayne or Jennings too...we r not in a good position.... BA live and die by your own sword
