In the name of getting some activity going, Whos your tip for the Thornett medal?

Personally think the medal and awards night should be cancelled this year, and all funds allocated for the evening should be donated to a local charity. but for conversations sake,

JH will probably get it on his recent form but he hasnt offered enough all year for my liking, id have to give it to last years winner Brown again.

Should the awards night be cancelled this year? I think so unfortunately.

The players just dont deserve it, its a waste of club funds, nobody deserves any awards after this year.

Instead of an awards night they should be forced to do something constructive like call members and apologise for the disgraceful season or visit local hospitals for the evening.

    • Do you think the players deserve an awards night?

    • No
    • Us fans should all get it
    • Terepo for me
    • I agree that Alvaro should get it. And that in and of itself speaks to how badly our team lacks some star performers. Alvaro has been great, and he has certainly shone above most of the rest on a consistent basis - but he's no superstar. I'd be surprised if many other teams fans even knew his name.

  • i agree snake, i think it should be cancelled and the players and staff should go do some community work and do some extra charity events just to show they at least care about the club and fans. however i doubt it and i think it will be hayne who picks up the thornett medal

  • I agree should be cancelled but the best of a bad bunch is Alvaro by a long way.
Not many players have played in as many games as him due to huge injury toll this year (possibly due to AFL trainer)
Although he isn't as flashy as some forwards elsewhere with monster hits or runs which skittle the defence, every team needs honest player like him in their pack.
Always puting in 100% effort and has been the most consistent through the year.
Have also heard alvaro getting talked up from both channel 9 and foxtel commentators during year so definitely doing something right

Would be interested in seeing the 3, 2, 1 scores though the year though. If Thornett medal is scored in similar way to Origin man of series it could be player with a couple flashy games and top points despite missing half of season.

    • Fair call on Alvaro but he's been no standout as far as the whole comp goes.

If he gets it you know things are grim.

      • The one eyed man in the land of the blind is king

    • "if Thornett medal is scored in similar way to Origin man of series" then Billy fukn Slater will get it.
