2018 Predictions

What are your expectations for next year? A preliminary final is a minimum for me. The question is with the addition of Evans and loss of Semi, will we be a better team? Or will we fade once more.

  • Yes i feel we will be better. If we can win more than 50% of our games at tje start of the season then semi will be back about half way through to help bring it home. We will have Evans and Meehan off the bench to add some size and impact off the bench which we lacked yhis year. Our halves will be better for the off season together. Guth will be back at fullback and french will be back with more size on him which should make him more dangerous. King will keep his spot at hooker and we will have some skill and good service around the ruck. Yes we will be better and i wouldnt expect anything less than making the gf in 2018
    • That's interesting. So the general consensus is that Semi will most likely to be back soon? And I forgot about Gutho and French, we've definitely missed them.

    • Yeah it would have been a different game if we had guth french and tepai for the semi
  • 2010 wasn't that terrible, cost me a bit of money that year losing footy bets after 09 haha.

  • We will be like Canberra this year
  • our best players continue to leave us for another codes.
feel special people, this happens to no other club.
  • Next year is our year I said this year we've got a 3 year window to win a title with this group of men. It will come down to being more consistent with the footy, no injuries to key men and luck. I really reckon we overachieved this year weren't a top 4 team and it showed at the business end.
  • Roosters will be the benchmark with Tedesco coming.

Melbourne will go down without Cronk.

Parramatta need two gun props to match the best.
  • Our team is weakened by the loss of semi. Some will argue he was not playing that well early in the season and we were still winning but that comes down to two reasons 1. His mere presence alone and the impact he had on defence structures of the opposition and 2. King gutho finding crazy form. His knee might not be 100% come round 1 so we can't rely on the King gutho factor next year.

Let's not forget we also had a great draw and found some good form at ANZ, these factors will likely not carry over into next year.

I also feel teams like cowboys, tigers, Newcastle, bulldogs and Penrith could be stronger next year whilst this year we met some of these teams at good times. Remember playing Penrith mid season at ANZ (hint: they were awful).

But then there is the 2017 version of the sharks. I predicted they would drop out of the 8 this year and obviously I got that wrong. I based this on the loss of two important players in Barba and Ennis coupled with their aging roster being that one year older. Now I realise they had a sad end but let's face it, they only missed the top 4 by one win.

So moral of the story is I'm a pessimistic parammatta supporter (understandingly so) and maybe just maybe I'm wrong, but I'm tipping bottom 4.
  • We have 3 things in our favour going into 2018.

    1. Playing squad will be similar to this year with decent depth. This is a huge advantage to the coaching staff. BA has shown he can build a winning team on the squad we have.

    2. Norman and Moses will have a full off season together and Norman will be fully fit. Without Semi and a huge pack these 2 will be our key to success.

    3. Experience from 2017 semis. This will be a valuable lesson for all the players. They will be hurting after coming so close and going out the way we did. All the players will be pumped to get back into pre season and start the year strong.

Our biggest weak is our mental toughness which let us down in a few games this year and especially against the Cowboys. If we can't fix this all the above is irrelevant.
