  • ok, we need to organise a 1eyedeel fundraiser.
  • that would be great stump union for once! sounds like the inglis deal?
  • how about a sponser thats not affilated with the eels to chip in
  • yes thats how the Broncos do it. I heard Bruno Cullen explain it on MMM yesterday, NRL allows any non sponsor, non box holder, to contribute any amount of $ to sponsor a player. He said thats how locky is on the cap for $250K but is getting heaps more because his manager ha s sought out these third party deals and any club can do this under the rules (for sure its easier if your a 1 team town)
  • how much did we offer him
  • i stll doubt union wouldnt be able to top our dollar, so i still dont think we'll get him. H ehimself said he has some unfinished bussiness in union.

still i am a tad excited
  • your kiddin!!!!!!
  • I have always thought that 3rd Party sponsorship is the way forward. The NRL continue to gripe that there is no more money available due to current TV sponsorship arrangements, so why not let the players make as much as possible from 3rd party deals. It’s up to the NRL to work out how to police the deals to keep the competition fair, not restrict the players earning capacity because it’s too hard to police.
  • do wateva it takes but NRL help the eels get this guy.
grow a pair and hit back and all these other codes taking our great players bye landing one of unions best.
him and hayne running round is gonna make the NRL make 20 times more revenue than they need to put in to get him, in sponsorships, marketing ect by having a union golden boy defecting and then having him paired up with leagues golden boy.
ANd he would be awesome in league.
Reminds me almost exactly of karmichael hunt but with a more playmaker type passing and kicking game.
Shit him and hayne developing a combo and hitting form will have the crowds pooring in..
    wake up NRL
  • It would be an incredible and exciting coup and about as much chance as winning the tatts lottery.

Quade would have a good chance of being signed by union or AFL from league than visa versa. Mark Graham quote, 'union is an amateur sport run by professionals, league is a professional sport run by amatuers'.

News, are not the AFL or Union, they're looking to get every ounch of blood from it's product. Expecting them to top up an offer from their own coffers is unlikely.

Maybe third party agreements might be a hope - but am not sure about the new laws regarding all this. Anyone ? Any hope there ?
