1Eyed Eel FAQ about the "turmoil" at our club

Okay,

I have possibly not seen so much FUD flying around about our club in my entire time as a fan. Let me take a moment to distil it or for you, and give you what I believe is pretty good understanding of the situation as it stands.

Question: Is Ricky Stuart leaving Parramatta?

Answer: Highly Unlikely

Steve Sharp has gone on record saying that they have met with his management. If that meeting had anything that would have caused the club to be concerned about Stuart's future, he wouldn't have spoken so openly about the board continuing to back Stuart. What was reported as "Stuart had demands" would have been Stuart raising some issues of concerns that he'd like the club to address. Not unusual. And I'm sure he'll take every opportunity to try and get the resources he feels he neds to move forward.

Question: But hasn't it been reported he's going to Canberra?

Answer: No

Unnamed sources have been said to be behind a million dollar a year, seven year contract which is itself absolutely ludicrous. No football club would give itself such a massive liability. In actual fact, Canberra officials have flat our denied that he was an applicant and said he wasn't one of the eight or nine people being considered. If you don't believe that, then believe the bookies who don't even have him listed as one of the candidates.

Question: Is the board trying to get rid of Stuart?

Answer: No

At no point has the board every questioned Stuart and Steve Sharp has at every opportunity reiterated the board's support, including the latest communication to email on Friday. I've asked directors myself and they have reaffirmed that stance to me directly.

Question: Why would they annoy Stuart by getting Brian Smith to do a review?

Answer: They aren't

An informal conversation about whether a review might be conducted was somehow blown into a newspaper story, after it was conveniently leaked. There was only one person who was a part of that conversation that is a member of the old board.

Question: Why are there still leaks?

Answer: See above

I don't think we'll see the end of leaks until you can have the trust that every member of the board, is there to do a job and adhere to the basic principles of corporate governance. Shouldn't be so hard, should it? There are various people, both behind doors and on social media, that have done everything they can since the new board was elected to continually light fires. They are doing a very good job.

Question: What can I do about it?

Answer: Chillax

Don't just believe everything you read. We all know that this club has since 2009 degraded into a rabble. That will take time to fix. If in the highly unlikely event that Stuart and Canberra are taking everyone for a ride, you'll know next week. If in the more likely event, that it is a media and political stunt, you'll find that out to.

The club has to go through a healing process, which is difficult why people keep trying to open up the sores. You can help by being rational about the information that is being disseminated and taking a critical look at the motivations that may be behind it, and realising that getting worked up about rumours and speculation, you're only helping to further de-stabilise the club.

  • PERFECT. These rumours always circle at struggling clubs year in, year out and we the fans have just gotta support because that's the only way out of this. A bit of faith in RS keeping his word and likewise for Steve Sharp would certainly help a few people cause it seems we're all a bit paranoid about the board at the moment!

  • very good calming article, I loved it, I to agree panic solves nothing..................

  • Nice work, Phil. Just wish there wasn't a need for it.

    *sigh*
  • **********@mole update***********

The mole has now DELETED the Riki to Raiders rumor tweet.

Had me for a while, probably gained a few thousand extra tweets on he's account. May be due for a payrise.
  • Anyone listening to the mole and Twiiter are jumping at shadows, i'd be shocked if he goes to that shithole.

  • Great. thank you. Thought that would be the case, good to hear the truth.
