With respect, why?
A few reasons,
Firstly it gives more ammo to those who despise aboriginal people by claiming they are doll blushes etc and gives them more things to despise us about.
Second, I feel the whole thing is more about Albo making himself look good and giving jobs to his buddies. It reminds me so much of when Hilary Clinton brought up actors and LeBron James to her stage before the 2016 US election claiming to American public to vote for her, it rubbed people the wrong way as it was like they were telling the average Joe what they should do. Plus, Albo has gone into this arrogantly as even though he's claimed to be in the middle of it and letting Australia decide, he is clearly yes and uses the race card when people say no, it's like when you ask to do something for charity, if you say no you will be seen as a monster, Albo used that as a defence and back fired.
Third, we hardly know anything about it, it is that hidden. It wasn't consulted upon many tribes, my local tribe has a representative that speaks with parliament on things related to indigenous affairs and they aren't given an answer as to what it'll mean.
Plus the fear I have myself moving forward is how powerful could this voice be in general? To the point where it can run the country. For example if we want to build infrastructure, the voice might say no due to it being on Indigenous land, meaning we don't grow as a country despite gaining more and more population every year.
I guess it is also right wing bias as being right winged along with being indigenous and a teacher makes me a rare breed, my right wing beliefs in politics do not match with what this all means.
I was born in Sydney, I'm 82 years old , doesn't that qualify me as Indigenous? If so , what's the problem.
I know this was said in jest, but that's an interesting point. If indigenous people are to get a second voice to parliament (the consitution already caters for everyone to get their voice heard via their local MP), how are they going to determine who is indigenous? What if everyone in the country claims to be indigenous? Where does this end?

I've said this for ages , why don't we all just claim to be indigenous? We could as you can be white in 2023 and be Indigenous without question.
It's actually quite dangerous for the actual real indigenous these days as whitewashing and genuinely wiping out the relevance of being Aboriginal is a real threat. When every second cunt these days is a newly discovered white blackfella , it's only a matter of time until being aboriginal is like saying you're a labor or Libs voter . It will be Irrelevant.
Saying you are a lib voter could get you a look of dispair as you could be homophobic. I had that once, saying i was homophobic cause i support Perrottet and he is Catholic. Idiotic.
Like in America, if you say you support Republican party, you are automatically a sexist, homophobe, transphobe, xenophobe, racist and priviledged. It is quite sad.
It would be the same way they determine who is indigenous with current policies- there's an existing process where one would need to prove; of aboriginal descent, identify as an aboriginal person and be accepted as such by your community.
You're talking if you're claiming benifeits or finance , as in you'll need an elder to complete the documentation for the indigenous council. There's a gazillion examples where you can claim aboriginal herritage and it will be accepted without such documentation. As in attending the Indigenous health care facilities or even going through the education system until tertiary funding is applied for. Even that's flexible.
But until you're going for the top end of town type financial leg ups , you can easily go though identifying as indigenous and utilising the many perks without an ounce of proof of herritage . You can literally walk into an indigenous only health centre and it's up to the desk jockey as to whether you're accepted in or not.
