10 year plan.

At the start of the year I was reading the daily telegraph like every other optimistic Eels supporter. The story was about the Eels having a ten year plan & the very confidant comment that within that ten years it would yeild two premierships. You will have to forgive me but I took that as the club improving & moving forward towards that goal.Placing twelvth last year I naturally thought that the idea was to improve on your position from previous years.Yes I know Hayne has left and salary cap scandals and problems with injuries & the Sandow thing occured.Whats worrying me is except for a handful of the remaining playing group, whats left over including the up & coming players, they are not showing a lot of signs in improvement. After last year we have taken one step forward & now two steps backwards.I apologize for being less than enthusiastic but I don't think it matters who coach's this club at the moment. We hav a lot of individual talent that just hasn't gelled together as a team & unless that happens the future looks bleak., indeed.

  • This is only the 2nd year of us building. Last year we did pretty well, finals would have been an over achievement. Losing JH was a bigger blow than many expect. Everything is slowly coming together, on field results aren't the pure measuring scale. Our recruitment/retention is the best in a long time. Members are increasing each yr. Board is stable and not fuelled by agendas. Development of PLC and stadium is happening. Looking at the ladder ONLY as a reflection of how the plan is going is too narrow/simplistic. Even this yr, our floggings have been far less frequent than last yr. More competitive overall IMO but more closer losses due to a lack of class (JH loss a big factor in this). Nxt yr we get that sort of class back with KF etc.

    • Haha
    • You lost me at " I was reading the daily telegraph"
  • Kearneys 5 year plan plus Arthur's 10 year plan equals a giant 15 year plan. Unfortunately the goals seem to be wooden spoons and not ever making the 8.
  • the only way eels can make the 8 next year is if we have this team & are lucky with our injury toll
    1. Michael Gordon
    2. Semi Radradra
    3. Brad Takairangi
    4. Tim Lafai
    5. Bureta Faraimo
    6. Corey Norman
    7. Kieran Foran
    8. Junior Paulo
    9. Nathan Peats
    10. Tim Mannah
    11. Manu Ma'u
    12. Beau Scott
    13. Anthony Watmough
    ---------------------------
    14. Danny Wicks
    15. Tepai Moeroa
    16. Kenny Edwards
    17. Peni Terepo

If we can keep this same team for 5 years we will be alright after Choc, Scott & Flash retire we have players like French, Fuimaono & Aloai players we must keep & not let go
    • Lafai blahahaha
  • I would be happy with either. Just the same I think Trent has got a pretty good team list there.
  • Thought we had a forty year plan to win a grand final. We are now moving into the last ten years, just be patient, we will get there unless they start a fifty year plan.
