10 more players join the Kangaroos

Wests Tigers winger Lote Tuqiri has a shot at history after being one of
10 players added to Australia's Four Nations rugby league train-on
squad on Monday.

Tuqiri's teammates Robbie Farah, Keith Galloway, Chris Lawrence and Todd Payten will join him as will five Titans - Greg Bird, Ashley Harrison, Anthony Laffranchi, Mark Minichiello and Scott Prince in Sydney on Wednesday for medicals and training.

With Test No.7 Johnathan Thurston (ankle) no certainty to be fully recovered in time for Australia's opening Four Nations clash with PNG in Sydney on October
24, Prince could find himself reunited with his 2005 NRL premiership winning coach Sheens next month.

Prince has played four times for Australia, but has not featured since the 2008 World Cup.

Brisbane forward Corey Parker, who captained Australia's Prime Ministers XIII to a hard fought win over PNG at the weekend, believes the hard-hitting
Kumuls will be a dangerous side to meet first up in Australia's Four Nations defence.

Train on squad: Darren Lockyer, Sam Thaiday (Brisbane), Michael Ennis, Ben Hannant (Canterbury), Paul Gallen (Cronulla), Greg Bird, Ashley Harrison, Anthony Laffranchi, Mark
Minichiello, Scott Prince (Gold Coast), Cooper Cronk, Billy Slater,
Cameron Smith (Melbourne), Kurt Gidley (Newcastle), Matt Scott,
Johnathan Thurston, Willie Tonga (North Queensland), Jarryd Hayne,
Timana Tahu (Parramatta), David Taylor (South Sydney Rabbitohs), Jason
King, Jamie Lyon, Anthony Watmough (Manly), Brent Tate (New Zealand),
Jarrod Croker, Josh Dugan, Tom Learoyd-Lahrs, Joel Monaghan, David
Shillington (Canberra), Petero Civoniceva, Michael Gordon, Michael Jennings, Luke Lewis (Penrith), Robbie Farah, Keith Galloway, Chris
Lawrence, Todd Payten, Lote Tuqiri (Wests Tigers).

  • how many more players are joining them.....
  • lol, tahu?

    for real?
  • sandows in the ARL prime ministers
  • That bloke is starting to get annoying.
  • A lot of them are injured. He's not a bad inclusion into the extended squad. Ur forgetting he was picked for both origins and did play well in origin 1. Good halves will mean he sees ball earlier

  • Why do they have so many players on that list?
  • surely you jest
  • You are an absolute joke, michael, if you truly believe that...I think you would find most reasonable people not only here but also on any rugby league forum appreciate what Gallen brings to each and every game, even if some of them don't like the fact that in the past he has got into a bit of trouble with the refs.

Here are some stats for Gallen from this year, taken from the Sharks website and you tell me they aren't impressive:
"Stats-wise, the 29-year-old has had by far the best season of his career; averaging 34.5 tackles per game, dwarfing his previous career average 24.5.With a league best 505 hit-ups, Gallen obliterated his nearest rival Broncos lock Corey Parker (391) and eclipsed the previous club record of 495, which he achieved back in 2005.
Gallen also topped the metres gained list with 4065 ahead of speedsters Jarryd Hayne, Akuila Uate and Josh Dugan, who each rack up plenty of easy metres from kick returns.
Gallen made 796 tackles for the season and finished in second spot for offloads with 67, behind Parramatta’s Feleti Mateo." Source: http://www.sharks.com.au/default.aspx?s=article-display&id=3045...

Gallen most definitely should be in the squad, michael. Please don't embarass yourself by suggesting otherwise.
