First transgender contestant to compete in Miss Universe pageant this weekend:

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA/CNN) - This weekend's Miss Universe pageant, set in Bangkok, is going to be historic.

Among the most notable competitors is the pageant's first-ever transgender contestant.

Miss Universe Spain Angela Ponce, 26, beat out 20 other women in June to qualify for the global round of the pageant. Miss Universe stopped banning transgender women from competing in 2012.

Ponce says she entered the fashion industry ten years ago and has been competing in beauty contests for the last three years. She's opened up about her time as a model, saying she suffered discrimination, being rejected for fashion events or shoots once designers or organizers discovered she was transgender.

Ponce said she plans to use her platform to draw attention to the high suicide rate among transgender persons.

“If my going through all this contributes to the world moving a little step forward, then that’s a personal crown that will always accompany me,” Ponce told The Associated Press this summer.

CNN reports Ponce is said to be a favorite for Sunday's competition.

  • They certainly are major concerns Frankie! Unfortunatley there are not any currently political leaders who are willing to stand up and say ' enough is enough' and draw the line in the sand.

  • I've got this!

"Good points, I would rather just make it scoring team kicks as opposed to letting them choose.
But I don't think anyone here is complaining about kick-offs. Not necessary. NRL saying kick-offs are the issue with momentum but not 6 agains?"

"6 player bench is an idea I can understand, I think it needs to be tweaked. Like have an extra replacement like 18th man so you can cover all areas but make it slightly easier to activate or have 5 man bench and have 19th man as replacement."

fake midget pseudoachondroplasia replied to Rabz S's discussion Potential NRL changes
"Nearly every sport hands possession over after a team scores or has a genuine contest for the ball.  Other than NRL and Rugby can someone name a sport where the ball is given back to the team who score.  Rugby is a bit different to NRL though due to…"

"Great point, what sports other than NFL give possession back from a kick?
NFL do it as teams can have the ball for minutes upon minutes. V'Landys has this hard on for NFL and American sports."

Like comebacks won't happen. They want closer games yet this year was the tightest comp I decades."

ANY MORE SIGNINGS???

I've been frustrated recently about the work we have been doing in the open market. Jonah's alright for a year and JDB is solid but he's getting old. I feel we need more in the forwards and some a replacement outside back. All I have seen is links…
