A picture tells a thousand words. The emotion tells us far more.

And so, last night, what a bounce-back win for the Eels against the Panthers in a golden point thriller it was.

Backs to the wall, under pressure, largely written off, and under fire for the last month.

But, we need to follow it up next week at Allianz to build on this win, and start building our season after a horror 0-3 start and avoid the confidence-sapping, consistently inconsistent, week on, week-off Eels we saw far too often last year.

The Roosters are our one of boogeymen, second only to after Rabbits. Or perhaps better put, the Rabbits are more our Baba Yaga (6-straight losses by assassination).

Viggo Tarasov explains exactly who Baba Yaga is in John Wick.

Over the last five years against the Roosters we've only won 2 of 8 with an average losing score of 12 - 34.5

We haven't beaten the Roosters outside of Parramatta in 15 years.

They are almost Baba Yaga outside Parramatta.

We last tasted victory against the Chooks outside of Parramatta when Nathan Cayless, our longest serving Captain received the Jack Gibson trophy from Mrs Gibson back in round 22, 2008 at the old Sydney Football Stadium. We'd just won by a 4-point margin (28-24). Those were the days. Braith Anasta played for the Roosters. Nathan Hindmarsh, Krishnan Inu, Luke Burt, Feleto Mateo were too. It was the year before the Hayne Plane took off to get us into the 2009 grand final.

It was that long ago.

  • All I know is , We kept the wrong Cayless.

    • Hahaa. Oh, I just realized we had the original Junior Paulo back then in that game as well. Those were the days.
