Round 23 couldn't have been more different for these two clubs if they played on Mercury.

The Eels recorded their biggest win of the season, a 42-6 36-point thumping of the listless Dogs to get their mojo back for two consecutive halves - something they've struggled with all season. Conversely, the Broncos were humiliated like never before in their 35-year history. They suffered not only their heaviest loss of the year, 12-60 against the Storm - but it's the first time in their history they've conceded 60 points.

Now these two meet on a Thursday night again - twice in a season for the very first time twice. Last Thursday night they met, in Round 19 at Commbank, the Broncos spanked the Eels' 36-14. Thursday nights have not been good for the Eels recently - only winning 1 from the last 5. Conversely, the Broncos have won 4 of their last 5.

Both will seek redemption. But there can only be one.

It's also at Suncorp where the Broncos should have an advantage. The Broncos (despite the humiliation of round 22) usually perform at Suncorp - and have won 7 of their last 9 here.

The Eels have had mixed results at Suncorp in recent times. The Eels have lost the last two straight at Suncorp v the Broncos - but have never lost three straight here. They've only won 2 of their last 5 here v the Broncos here, and 4 from their last 8 games.

The last month has also seen a reversal in fortunes.

The Eels have won 3 of the last 4. Conversely, the Broncos have hit a wall winning only 1 from their last 4 games; stumbling at the wrong time of the year. Their season in freefall.

To add more misery to their suffering, the Broncos might also be without Origin stars Kurt Capewell (ankle) to add to Carrigan (suspension, R25) and Farnsworth (biceps).

It's all unravelling for the Broncos in no time.

Surely, the Broncos will come out all guns blazing to revive their season, now in freefall? The Eels need to maintain the rage as well to have a hope of doing anything meaningful this year.

  • I was planning on going but start a new job next week so have to wait and see. We go good against the broncs at Suncorp

  • Guys, Is this bus and Kram's knitting skills going to be enough to Bring Back The Bert?

  • Xavier Coates??  I thought he played for Melbourne??

    • Apologies, typo time warp, hahaha.

  • I reckon 1EE should charter a bus for Thursday's game. Could depart around midnight Wednesday outside the leagues club, drive through the night, and watch replays of that semi when we flogged the Broncos at Bankwest a couple years back - or porn - whatever everyone wants. Pick up Al Hunt, Bretto, Pop and Brissy on the way through Brisvegas then head to the ground to sledge the feck out of those Broncos simpletons.

    • Whos driving? Will clothes be compulsary?

    • All invited. Clothing must be removed upon boarding, for security purposes.

I'd be happy to conduct sun lamp tanning and bleaching classes up the back of the bus for anyone interested.

Carls, Mace and Keet and the rest of the girls could do a bit of knitting to keep them occupied - - they could knit a mascot...
