The big questions in 2019

Since the October long weekend, rugby league fans have been waiting for this day. Five and a half months of nothing but BBL, tennis and Australia getting belted by India on home decks.

Tonight, the wait is over as the Melbourne Storm play the Brisbane Broncos at AAMI Park.

There are plenty of questions to answer this season.

How will a JT-less Cowboys perform?

Will Melbourne cover the loss of Slater?

Is Dylan Brown the halfback that was promised?

Will Gus Gould be found aimlessly wandering the streets of Mt Druitt mid-season, dishevelled and uttering a single word: Cleary?

Will Anthony Seibold keep Jack Bird away from Maccas?

Will Wayne Bennett continue Souths' revival, or send them back to the stone age?

Will Cronulla be moved to Perth?

Will St George get over their deathly allergy to winning in August?

Will the Raiders play for longer than 60 minutes?

Will the Titans remind people they exist?

Will Uncle Nick find another lazy million in the Roosters' salary cap?

What will collapse first? Brookvale Oval or the Manly team itself?

Will the Warriors bother turning up at all without Shaun Johnson?

Does Michael Maguire have his own bus?

Will Kieran Foran get it together?

Is Kalyn Ponga the heir apparent to Joey Johns?

And the ultimate question:

Can footy players avoid sharing sex tapes on Whatsapp?

What are some of the questions you want answered this season?

  • Add to the above-

Whether we will get back to back wooden spoon with the bush coach....

Whether Roosters will continue to flank Salary cap and Todd and his cotorie will look other way...

  • We had the opportunity to sign one of two premiership winning coaches in Bennett or Maguire. I hope that doesn't bite us on the arse.

    • I don't think we ever had the opportunity to sign Bennett. It was a tug of war between Brisbane and Souths. Brisbane wanted to get rid of Bennett, they wanted Seibold and Souths organised the swap. It wasn't like Bennett went onto the open market.

  • Will the NRL actually do something about the Salary Cap and TPA mess, or will they just get a bigger mat to sweep it under?

Will we see a revived Parramatta Eels team play to their potential in the new BankWest Stadium?

  • I've come up with a list that is more focused on the Eels:

    1. Can Guth return to the form he showed in 2017 that had him in the running for the Dally M?

    2. Will the addition of Junior Paulo and Shaun Lane be enough to make our pack competitive?

    3. Can Moses and Dylan Brown form the halves combination that we desperately need?

    4. Will Fergo and Saivo become one of the potent wing combinations in the comp?

    5. Can Reed Mahoney get through the saeson as pretty much our only front line number 9?

    6. Will Brad Arthur see out the season?

    7. Will the new Parra stadium become a fortress for the Eels and provide a home ground boost to our number of wins?

  • >Can footy players avoid sharing sex tapes on Whatsapp?

So you're suggesting they share them on Instagram and Snapchat instead? Message received loud and clear!

    • Well Insta keeps crashing so don't know how effective that would be, and Snapchat is dying a painfully slow death.

  • Will the pies be hot, the queues short, the beer cold and the seats be "as allocated" at the New Stadium?

    • Well the Leagues Club now has its own brewery so here's hoping the amber nectar isn't some mid-strength crap.

  • My big question is this -

Considering we have some forwards out injured - did Brad Arthur force dumbass Peni Terepo to stand in front of the team and all the hard working officials and ask for an explanation as to his conduct and why he has let everyone there and the millions of fans down ???

This is what I would like - if he somehow manages to hold onto his job - stand up in front of the fans and explain himself !

The end of Bevan French?

Bevan French's NRL career may need to be reborn following the start the Eels have had this season, with many of the plaudits going to Parramatta's back three of Clint Gutherson, Blake Ferguson and Maika Sivo.

The back trio have all had outstanding starts to 2019, with them totalling a whopping 2,300 running metres between them so far. All three are in the top 21 metre eaters and are the only back three of any club to appear in the top 21. For context, not a single…

Eels fall to fast finishing Roosters

The Parramatta Eels have gone down to the Sydney Roosters 32-18 at ANZ Stadium on Friday night.

It was the first loss for the Blue and Golds in the 2019 season, but a performance that signalled they're a different team to the wooden spooners of 2018.

While most pundits expected an improved performance from the Eels, few predicted the battle they would hand the reigning Premiers and World Champions.

Parramatta lost Tepai Moeroa in the warm-up, forcing…

Lifting the lid on pec tears

Image result for nathan brown parramatta eels 2019

Parramatta Eels lock Nathan Brown is the first pectoral tear casualty of the 2019 season. It's an injury that can see players sidelined for up to 14 weeks and has also become more prevalent in recent seasons.

Across 2017 and 2018, 19 players went down with pec tears.

The injury itself isn't a tear in the pectoral muscle, it's a tear in the tendon that connects the muscle to the upper arm. If the injury occurs at the muscle-end of the tendon, recovery is…
