Off-season - Covid & Vaccination Discussion

Ladies and Gentlemen,

With it being a significant part of current affairs, if there is a need to discuss Covid during in the off-season, it can be done here. Hence, there is no need for another Covid blog, unless it is related to the NRL or other current affairs issues.

Super wants to allow for some freedom of speech and sharing of ideas, not muting adult discussions - especially as it's the off-season. As long as it doesn't go too far and any sparring doesn't get below the belt.

      • Frank ,Yes, I agree: the Govt & media often feed us poppycock. And plenty of popular media sources downplay Covid & sing conspiracy theories (you know them).

Yes, I think you're partially correct. In some cases, the numbers are inflated (e.g. in some countries, hospitals get additional Govt funding). But, overall, globally, the numbers would be unders by a long way for many reasons (e.g. it often costs money and effort to get tested regularly, then report it, not everyone goes to a hospital when they're sick, & autopsies don't happen for every death).

Even in Australia, the Govt I believe, kept a lid on the true numbers for quite some time, trying to appear in control.

        • I don't agree.

Although I will concede that there is a lot more COVID around now, (just a coincidence that it coincides with a 95% vax rate) the government and the media were pushing the cases adnuseum during lockdown to get what they wanted - mass vaccination. So to say that they are under reporting numbers is certainly incorrect. If anything they over inflated to con(Vince) the punters to take the shot..

Not even going into the hospital and doctor incentives when it comes to testing and treating COVID patients.

          • So, I think the real numbers, globally, overall, are probably far higher than known cases.

You disagree & think they're lower. How much lower would you say 50%, 60%, 90%, 99%? Is SARS-CoV-2/ COVID real?

PS: I'm not saying Govt's and groups don't manipulate the data to achieve an objective. For instance, I believe Australia hid it for some time (and China hides lots more and did some very suss things), but in the US, I believe there was an over-inflation during the election period (based on info from people I trust).

            • The testing is faulty as hell and they over cycle the tests to get positives.....hard to say how far out the real numbers are but IMO conservatively I'll say 50% off.

I agree that globally in places where they don't test as much (Africa, Middle East) the figures would be  definitely higher, however in western countries were there's been a real hard push on vaccines (fear has been the stick they've used to get the population vaxxed) I seriously doubt the numbers - without the fear, propaganda and mandating they would never have gotten to 95%.

I won't even go into the efficacy of these vaccines other than to say, with the number of cases we currently have daily, good luck pushing a booster that's already looking like it doesn't work. But I'm sure the next round of fear mongering is just round that corner.

              • Spot on mate.

      • So true

  • Frank The Tank  just for you as I know you've been missing the COVID discussions.

  • Only DICKh#@ds took the Vaccine.

  • Covid 19 jab mandates ruled unlawful in QLD.  Good decision.
