Your questions to the Eels bosses

Next week is our last Supporters Group Alliance meeting for the year, so if you have questions for the likes of Jim and Mark, get them in.

As a reminder, the SGA is focused on the club's interaction with community, members and supporters on match days, online, and on topics like membership and apparel.

The SGA has now been around for just over 12 months. Our initial focus and priority was on the club reconnecting with fans through the 2024/25 pre-season. Our feedback and advice was used to help structure the fan days held across western Sydney. The Eels have continued with these fan days as a priority with the first one of this off-season already being held.

We've also got clarity on how membership packs are put together and provided robust feedback on what members want moving forward. I will be asking for an update on where things are at with looking into a new supplier for 2027 memberships.

We have been updated at our meetings on the club's approach to junior retention and pathways. While we don't provide direct feedback on footballing operations, we do ask questions around salary cap, contracting and squad composition.

I imagine Zac Lomax will be a topic for discussion next week alongside recruitment plans. We don't usually get in-depth info here for obvious reasons, but Mark has, in the past, answered questions regarding our salary cap expenditure and recruitment in broad terms.

Post your questions below if you have anything for the club leadership.

    • Ya know where you can stick those big foam fingers

    • There was an attempt at organising a coterie on here years ago (like 10 years ago) and it never got off the ground. Good idea though.

I like your idea of removing those sections of seating, not sure how that would go from a safety perspective, nevertheless I like the idea.

      • It more than got off the ground. We had multiple coterie meetings and endorsement from the club. We had a draft constitution. Then the morons running the club got caught taking notes of a criminal fucking conspiracy and the coterie had to be shelved as it was never running with an administrator.

    • You prefer standing behind the posts? Interesting, Wests Tigers do that for their Commbank games. Could be a nice experience for games.

    • I can ask about the coterie. It would be more difficult for it to be set up now given Phil is on the Leagues Club board.

So actually there is an internal discussion regarding the cheerleaders returning.

What would you like the hat to be?

  • To ensure we spend the mandatory required amount of salary cap, are they simply going to pay the juniors they're pinning their hopes on and the (currently) rookie players exorbitant amounts? What is Plan B if Pissants replacement does not live up to expectations?

If they say we have a 5 year plan please walk out.

    • I almost need glasses to read that the font is so small.

      • I remember not needing glasses....must be nice

    • I'd say at minimum it's a 5 year plan as they won't be winning the premiership this year or next.

27 on is when the window should be open.We should have a good enough roster to be at least competitive consistently.Salary cap should be in our favour and we should at least be looking to add an elite player or 2.But the tell tale sign will be if our pathways talent in the next year or 2 is upto pushing the team to the next level if not then the clubs in trouble.

      • That's just sad....the forever wait

"Not really. TPA's are our biggest achilles heel. The whole system needs to be looked at, including how they tie in with a salary cap. I'd argue that a floating salary cap needs to be adopted, so that clubs who don't rort the TPA system can spend…"
