For all the positives around the development of individuals and the team this year .. if this bloke plays more than about 3 games for us next year it will be another long season .
Not a first grader , makes the same poor reads every week in defence , doesn't know he has a Ferrari outside him and can't even do his simple jobs well. He should be a stop gap player at best not a week to week regular.
He has no idea how to execute the basic parts of the game let alone take half chances . Very very average player .

I'm sure Ryles has given blokes like Russell extended runs in first grade this season to track his development but whether he puts Lomax back to centre and buys a quick athletic winger with speed or finds a quick strike centre surely he's seen enough to say Russell isn't the answer. Penisni might not be either but Russell definitely isn't .

Russell has played almost 60 games of first grade . Nearing 3 full seasons worth .
I've seen him finish some try's he should've and bomb some he should've finished .I don't ever really remember him winning a contest or beating his opposite. First grade backs make plays on both sides of the ball . He doesn't ever . Even areas like were on top in a set and raiders going nowhere and a back just runs over him on a regulation hit up .
He's shown some enthusiasm and willingness to do some dirty work this season but he's simply not a first grade level talent. He can't do the little things but the amount of times he hasn't been quick enough to get the ball on to an open addo Carr or passed the ball too early or too late is costing us . I've heard people argue he's quick but go watch the Dolphins game and him not being able to keep up with any half chance , he was on a treadmill. We need better . We need a centre who not only can offer more with the ball but has the athleticism and smarts to defend . I'm happy if Russell never played first grade for us again and I doubt he'd get a look in anywhere else .
Agree with it. You just scratched your head when Russell just takes the lines when JAC is open and surely can fend off and burn the defender with his speed
Dogs debuted a kid last week that's shown more in 2 games than Rusty has in 60. They're also got depth like Blake Wilson . All their backs are walk up starts over Russell so even if people wanna label him a depth piece he's not a good one .
Who gave him the kick off duties ? The less responsibilities that bloke has the better was a matter of time before he put one out on the full. Just a shit player lol.
I'll go out on a limb here and if you match us up on paper vs Canberra and athletic teams like it you could pretty much find a fair few in our starting line up in the same boat as the mentioned.
Whats worse is the style we want to play exposes the issue around it even more.27 is the year for this side because currently as constructed we won't beat sides like Canberra regularly with this roster.
