Who's going to be building reps at 6 next year then? It makes no sense at all long term.
It makes total sense if the Eels have someone in mind for 2028 or if the development of the player / players the Eels are expecting to play in the halves is not ready for 1st grade in 2027.
Guys i dont know why so much love for Volkman ? TBH at best he is a very good reserve grade player.
Would he be a walk in to any halves pair in any team the NRL in 2027 ?

you may say he didnt light up the halves at the tigers but Adam or Jock who ever he partnered in the halves were sorely not in the class of Mitch Moses.
a Luai & Moses halves pairing will elevate Parra next season.

I just can't wrap my head around the fact there's people who are outraged by this? If you're on the fence that's fine but people who are talking of handing their membership back in and wanting to storm the club with pitchforks I just don't understand.
So you would rather watch us bumble our way to 13th on the ladder with Volkman and Joash in the halves when Moses gets injured or plays origin. OR? Have a red hot crack at making the 8 with the best halves combination in the comp.
There are so many positives for me straight out of the block for me.
1. It's an obvious upgrade on our team this year.
2. It gives us a chance to make the 8. If we are playing well and in finals contention it makes parramatta a more desirable destination for free agents. Even if they don't get to play with Luai they see a club on the up.
3. Luai with lift standards just by his actions and impart premiership winning success on the playing group.
4. Gives us more time to blood Lorenzo and Fletcher. If Moses is out you'd be 💯 more confident throwing in Fletcher or Lorenzo knowing they have Luai there with them. But its just career suicide to throw a young kid in there to partner Joash or Volkman.
5. We aren't locked into a long term overpriced contract when Luai will start to play in the slippers when he is aged 34/35.

Imagine if we hadn't have bundled the DB saga and now look at us Everyman and his blind dog is having a go at the 6 job going at Parra.
For me this is just what this club is continually in damage control.They had the answer in there halves they even signed that answer for 8 years and some how still managed to fark them selves and now in year 3 of a rebuild we are still stop gapping the position I think that's the real issue here.
The jump off option tells me they don't have an answer within the club there talking development but continually go outside.They use the buying time narrative but in all essence they have no answers.Too me this isn't a premiership winning move it's a tread water move.
Moses is crying out for a halves partner we go get a rental to try and appease our best player I think that's the reality here.It's not a great move but maybe it motivated our best player and keeps away him wanting to move.

Our target shouldn't to be "better than we are", that bar is way too low because we are down the bottom of the ladder.
Our target needs to be "better than the Panthers/Rooster/Storm".
Would those clubs make this move and sign am already signed player to their Plan A spine for 1 year when they're in a rebuild and pinned to the bottom quarter of the ladder?
Would those clubs put all their eggs in the basket of juniors who are years away from knowing if they'll be able to crack first grade?

Yep, he is actually not that bad of a bloke. He came to my work and was a gentleman with the staff and kids. It's a boxing type persona where it sells him as the villain.
Now him not committing to Wests with the options is yeah not great but not his fault having them. Only bad things he's done are the social media posts, even then are tame compared to others. The best man speech was more embarrassing than a bad thing.
We better recruit hard for next year and make the most of the one year.
Get some gun forwards and a tank ctw and make a play with the best halves combo in the game.
