Love him or hate him, Ennis was a pretty smart hooker. As a commentator you get an idea of his insight into the game.
I reckon this is a clever move and will fast track Mahoney's development.

Can't think of anyone better to learn the hooking trade from. I think having specialist coaches, mentors is such a positive thing. When you've reached almost the echelon, there is really only the very elite/masters of their craft that you can really look to, to find that extra gear.
I think that it is a cost effective way to gain high level coaching in the club for elite players in specialist positions.
Ennis would be ideal for this job. The John's brother also for halves coaching.
Couldn't think of anyone better. I used to hate Ennis, because not only was he a bit of a cheeky grub but he was also good so it made him even more annoying. Type of player you despise on the opposition but would love on your team. If he can mold Reed into the image of himself I would be extremely pleased.
