“The Panthers are extremely proud to be number one ranked in this year's RLPA survey (2025), ” Panthers CEO Matt Cameron said as reported by The Australian.

“Our position within the league is a direct reflection of Ivan Cleary's attitude toward player development off the field, and the relentless work of our wellbeing and education staff.”

The Eels did not make the top four for men in 2024, but have surged to number two in 2025 under Ryles and reflects an improving alignment in management, culture and environment.

  1. High Performance Staffing: Head Coach, Medical Staff, Assistant Coaches, CEO Support, Football MGMT

    • If TPA's are the case Mutt's, that is idiotic by us as we should be able to attract some of the best TPA's around. Particularly the way Parramatta as a city is growing to be the biggest city next to Sydney, the 2nd CBD.

      • It's because the TPAs that make a difference - the ones that give you an advantage in recruitment/retention - are illegal. The TPAs that aren't illegal don't make a difference because they're not exclusive to players signing for one club. And it's not just TPAs. Players can be offered private investment opportunities below market rates, things like investment properties for $100k below their value. Even shares in businesses.

        • Remember years ago, c. 2018-20, when the NRL used to publish "official" TPAs? One year, the Eels had more than the Roosters, who had something like 70K or whatever. Politis would've been chuckling. I was. It's telling the NRL don't even bother publishing them anymore. I doubt "official" TPAs are that high as fans expect across the board. They were already falling, right before the NRL stopped publishing them. Broncos had 300K by then. LOL. Providing a black and white paper trail is a dangerous pursuit, as the Eels scandal showed. It's mostly unofficial and off the books.

          • Yep, and the only way they are revealed is through whistleblowers, or dumb players running their mouth as in the case of James Maloney at Penrith a few years ago. Clubs without whistleblowers are internally united, which is the opposite of the den of snakes we've had for decades. The 2016 scandal was exposed by people linked to the previous ousted board, trying to throw the management of the time under the bus. They thought that by tanking our season (and several afterwards) they would regain power. Thankfully Sharpe handed the club over to administrators on his way out.

            • Exactly, Pou. Our self-cannibalisation was our undoing, even if Sharp didn't intend to harm the club with his fan-wooing, "I will do whatever it takes to return the club to the glory days" slogans.

The Tigers are another club who are on the verge of self-imploding due to egos and power struggles if they're not careful. A shame as they did well to build that half-decent roster, which let's face it was probably helped via 'unofficial' means outside the cap.

  • Very good to hear.

All we need is a bit of help on the recruitment and development front and results.

  • Is this not just the clubs players rating their own club ? So in other words Penrith players voted themselves the best club?

    • Well if that is the case wouldn't it all be equal give or take 1-2 extra's if someone didn't do the survey? More likely the survey is choose 3.

      • It was just the players asked to give their own club a rating on a list of things . Penrith players gave their club higher ratings than others gave theirs . Really a nothing thing.
