Open letter to the players.

Please add to this with your comments in hope the note gets to the team.

Dearest Eels representatives,

Every week we turn up and follow the team. We pay good money to wear parra merchandise. We punish our children by giving them false belief that they are following a winning team. We have all helped in increasing club membership. That's good money that probably pays your wages. We pack out the new stadium despite our terrible performance. Again, good money spent. We are the most passionate fans in the league. We do our best to support the team continuously.

So I ask you, what more do you want us to do? How else can we help put an end to this misery? We give the club as much as we possibly can.

"Stick by us" just doesn't cut it anymore. Not after 20+ years of the team not showing any signs of winning a premiership. Give us 1 reason why we should stick by you?

It's about time you give back to us.

        • If it cost them cause not a lot left in the wallet i think it would.

    • Interesting observation.

Doesn't explain the other many years though.

    • The players would have supported Gutho completely as they themselves have been or will be in the same position as him. These negotiations have been going on since Christmas and were made public well before our form slide.

      • You can't possibly know if the players supported Gutherson or not.

    • PT think we all trying to work out what happened to any mental attitude they seemed to be building. I really hope the extra ‘sweetener’ we reportedly gave for this year is BS if anything. I’m a Guth lover but if that’s true I’d be really disappointed that our captain felt he needed more for this year and not sure that’s a great message that we’ve bowed to that. He always said it was about who the coach was...that’s what I thought.

however, wage disparity happens all the time in every workplace and it’s still up to the players to do their job just like the fans have to do each of the their working day lives.

  • They're supposed to be professionals. Contract negotiations shouldn't affect them.

The major problem is the forwards.

  • I have never agreed with a blog more in my life than this one.

    Thankyou

    • Hopefully it gets to the team.

      • Lol. Dreaming.

  • Ponga is on 800k gutho is on 750 k so your saying that is not overs? I don't think gutho can win a game on his own like gutho. He is an effort player not a marquee player. Don't kid yourself players don't like players earning more than them. Totally untrue!

"None of them would even know he exists. That's the biggest issue. A Board with football expertise would know names like Cameron, Ponissi etc. They'd have them on a shortlist already. Our lot would probably hire a HR company to do some market…"

"I don't even know if the Board of the Leagues Club have the authority to act. As the owner one would assume they do. I need to find out. If not, then fhe Football Club Board is untouchable. We'll need another constitutional change. "

"It's such an obvious move. If the Board and Jim haven't spoken to Wayne and don't intend to, then we have much larger problems than BA. We're in real trouble as an organisation. "
