Offer on the table for Mahoney

PARRA NEEDS REED

THE EELS are hoping to secure boom hooker Reed Mahoney on a long-term deal. Eager to avoid another Clint Gutherson-style contract saga, the club has put a top-dollar offer on the table to keep the No.9.

Mahoney is touted as a future Queensland Origin rake and Parramatta want to secure his signature before he becomes a free agent for 2021 on November 1. We have been told the offer is in excess of $300,000 a year.

  • Waiting for the...what the hell is BA doing, crud?

    • He's on holidays, don't know when back but I believe, rightly or wrongly that he has given the GM a list of the players he wants kept beyond their current contracts, including those off contract now and those able to talk to other clubs come Nov 1.

        • I was being a smart arse to Gruntas request preacher!

  • If you want to avoid what happened with Gutho then you've got to be offering moe than 300k for a player Reed's obvious potential. The reality is that there will be clubs out there who will offer him a lot more based on potential.

      • Shutup idiot

        • How can you call some one else a idiot when you proved yourself to be the dumbest dip shit on the site.

          • No he not  he said Marty was coming and look what happened

        • Oh mate! I second that shut up you idiot.

      • How is he worth anywhere near those figures. Can we be realist his size not his heart will impact his future rep honours. He is worth 250k for next year 300k for the year after and 350 for third year.

I dont think he is worth more than 250 for 2020 due to being in 1st grade for 1 year on 75k contract. He was good but not spectacular like a future star. My opinion on Rheed is that he wont win us a G/F but he will contribute with another top line hooker with more size. He is not a 60 min hooker at this stage of his career he may be in 3 years but right now he has potential but potential wont cut it in the NRL and 2nd year syndrome will play heavily on the kid. He will get targetted more by the well coached teams and if he starts to fall of tackles or gets bullied he may end up playing wenty. So are you happy with a 500k hooker sitting in Wenty when other teams pick his game to death.
