Nelson Asofa-Solomona has turned his back on up to seven NRL clubs interested in his service, quitting the NRL to take up a full-time deal in boxing.

News.com.au can exclusively reveal the NRL’s biggest man has quit rugby league indefinitely to pursue his dream of becoming a heavyweight boxing champion.

The 115kg enforcer has also become the first off-contract player to shun the mega bucks of R360 and also the riches on offer in the English Super League.

The former Melbourne Storm forward has signed a full-time boxing deal and could earn up to $1m a year in his new sport.

Plans are already underway for a rugby league super fight with another high profile NRL behemoth.

            • So when yoiur employee says "take this job and shove it" you think you can refuse? How? Send armed guards to collect them each morning?

The best you will get a non-compete clause.

The club wrote a shiny narrative around our divorce but i don't buy it....You did

              • No, you find a soulution .  Real clubs manoeuvre around this shit all the time with unsettled players. We offer him a bump up, or make a deal beneficial for both parties.  As in , champ you give us a great 2026 and if you still wish to leave , we release you no strings attached. Or maybe even find a good swap deal with another club he'd be happier at.  Our guys are just poor operator's.

I don't believe for a single second this was just all about that whacky union 360 comp. Who asks to be released , and cut off their income instantly without a signed agreement securing your next paycheque

                • I agree it doesn't seem to be r360, but I guess it all depends how much he wants out. He seems strong-willed.

This misled by Schitcocksy talk feels bogus

                  • We manage to fluke a signing of a decent player , and we only manage to keep him for one season before he wants out without even a paycheque to go to . If that ain't the biggest red flag there's something wrong at our club then I don't know what is.  Unless we are paying a kings ransom overs ( Moses )  , then nobody wants to be here.

                    Prove me wrong

                    • Jac wants to be here. Williams seems happy....thats all II got

                    • Both with limited to no other options , lifeline players. But yeah , I can agree there to an extent.

                    • I don't mind being a Lifeline club, however I am not sure that routing callers with suicidal thoughts through to Margo Kneel's office won't just add to their trauma

                    • It should be included as part of our membership package.  1300 EEL  - Beyond Blue and Gold hotline  .  They could have MON answering the calls, surley once you've spent half an hour talking to that dropkick , we'd all realise our lives aren't all that bad.  Just don't accept his video chat invitation, it's a trap.

                    • Top Comment....You Win the Internet today.

            • Can you imagine the uproar on here if that's all we do, upgrade and extend from within. This place will go into meltdown.
