Nelson Asofa-Solomona has turned his back on up to seven NRL clubs interested in his service, quitting the NRL to take up a full-time deal in boxing.
News.com.au can exclusively reveal the NRL’s biggest man has quit rugby league indefinitely to pursue his dream of becoming a heavyweight boxing champion.
The 115kg enforcer has also become the first off-contract player to shun the mega bucks of R360 and also the riches on offer in the English Super League.
The former Melbourne Storm forward has signed a full-time boxing deal and could earn up to $1m a year in his new sport.
Plans are already underway for a rugby league super fight with another high profile NRL behemoth.

So when yoiur employee says "take this job and shove it" you think you can refuse? How? Send armed guards to collect them each morning?
The best you will get a non-compete clause.
The club wrote a shiny narrative around our divorce but i don't buy it....You did
No, you find a soulution . Real clubs manoeuvre around this shit all the time with unsettled players. We offer him a bump up, or make a deal beneficial for both parties. As in , champ you give us a great 2026 and if you still wish to leave , we release you no strings attached. Or maybe even find a good swap deal with another club he'd be happier at. Our guys are just poor operator's.
I don't believe for a single second this was just all about that whacky union 360 comp. Who asks to be released , and cut off their income instantly without a signed agreement securing your next paycheque
I agree it doesn't seem to be r360, but I guess it all depends how much he wants out. He seems strong-willed.
This misled by Schitcocksy talk feels bogus
We manage to fluke a signing of a decent player , and we only manage to keep him for one season before he wants out without even a paycheque to go to . If that ain't the biggest red flag there's something wrong at our club then I don't know what is. Unless we are paying a kings ransom overs ( Moses ) , then nobody wants to be here.
Prove me wrong
Jac wants to be here. Williams seems happy....thats all II got
Both with limited to no other options , lifeline players. But yeah , I can agree there to an extent.
I don't mind being a Lifeline club, however I am not sure that routing callers with suicidal thoughts through to Margo Kneel's office won't just add to their trauma
Can you imagine the uproar on here if that's all we do, upgrade and extend from within. This place will go into meltdown.
'This place' matters far less than what happens on the field. I suspect it wouldn't have been good for us if Lomax had stayed and kicked stones while chewing up ~8% of our cap. We are far better off with good culture than more talent, if it meant culture had to suffer.
Haha, Randy. I'm on board with that analogy. Other people are not in the controllable basket. If she wants "to walk", you open the door & tie a red ribbon around her. Ours has a long string though lol.
