Nelson Asofa-Solomona has turned his back on up to seven NRL clubs interested in his service, quitting the NRL to take up a full-time deal in boxing.

News.com.au can exclusively reveal the NRL’s biggest man has quit rugby league indefinitely to pursue his dream of becoming a heavyweight boxing champion.

The 115kg enforcer has also become the first off-contract player to shun the mega bucks of R360 and also the riches on offer in the English Super League.

The former Melbourne Storm forward has signed a full-time boxing deal and could earn up to $1m a year in his new sport.

Plans are already underway for a rugby league super fight with another high profile NRL behemoth.

            • Is it really a group "demanding someone be signed Pops" or could it be a group getting very annoyed even pissed that we keep missing players we have identified and gone after. I am definetely in the last group without doubt. The first group definition not so much.

Our back 3 of Simmo, Penisni and Russell won't put much fear into the opposition. I don't believe they are fast enough and/or footy smart enough to capitalise on what Moses, Pezet, Iongi and Addo Carr can open up for them.

  • Yawn 🥱 🥱 Who really cares to be honest! He's over his use by date! Eels recruitment need to focus on getting a replacement for Lomax. Eels have enough forwards.

  • I'm worried we haven't signed anyone but I didn't want to sign this bloke. We need backs

  • I wouldn't be surprised if we are really in the hunt 60% into the season both Lomax and NAS rumors start circling.

  •

whilst this one's neither her nor there , this is the banana doing our bidding. What a glorious resume for a club that's in need of some big talent and experience injections

    • Some would say he's lived a blessed life. Fraud.

      • A fraud would at least have a resume that had us belive he was qualified for the job.  This dudes resume is more suited to NSW cup somewhere,  find me a worse resume for a head of recruitment anywhere in the NRL.

The time in roles and the fact he had to go to the local AFL to find work is all you need to focus on.  The guys a bum. A few years before we made him " head of recruitment " for what's supposed to be an NRL power club,  he was scratching around Western Sydney in a low regional position for the AFL, and was punted.

    • He is both our Head of Recruitment and Souffs List Manager.

      How does that work?

      • lol, Souths haven't noticed he's gone yet. Still been paying him..

        • Doing a George Costanza ...

"Us and 16 other clubs didn't seem to want him either. Go figure. Averillo is a decent player but a Winger? But i hear "Why didn't we go for Averillo" we obviously have seen something other clubs have as well."

"The big issue for Sloan is defence and impact to bend the line. Speed at times cannot be taught, he has god given speed. But we already have that type of Winger in JAC. We need a metre eater like To'o or Kiraz, a workhorse. Simonsson is the only one…"
