Nelson Asofa-Solomona has turned his back on up to seven NRL clubs interested in his service, quitting the NRL to take up a full-time deal in boxing.

News.com.au can exclusively reveal the NRL’s biggest man has quit rugby league indefinitely to pursue his dream of becoming a heavyweight boxing champion.

The 115kg enforcer has also become the first off-contract player to shun the mega bucks of R360 and also the riches on offer in the English Super League.

The former Melbourne Storm forward has signed a full-time boxing deal and could earn up to $1m a year in his new sport.

Plans are already underway for a rugby league super fight with another high profile NRL behemoth.

    • He should only have one position dated as his present job...lets help him out and put Dec 2025 as the end date of his Eels position and let him be "present" at Souths

      • Is he "Head of Recruitment" I wouldn't know him if I fell over him?

I thought he was more of a talent scout in the junior's market? and had little to do with First Grade Recruitment.

The club has plenty of money and it is not cap effected to pay "talent scouts" in my understanding.....we should have every corner covered with high price talent scouts from the Islands/NZ/ Qld and NSW.  Even ESL. Farnsworth found his way to Broncos and then Dolphins, Broncos with an ESL side will now have access to every top junior in England.

Maybe we should have a satelite side playing in NZ, a great way to develop some of our juniors who cannot get a look in locally but will not be lost to us. Dyllan Brown found us, knew nothing about Parra but somehow he got here, we could create an awareness of Parra and its history . Interesting the cost of such a side should be able to be taken off balance sheet for the sake of cap management.

  • I thought this was going to happen with NaS I suspect he's been looking for an out for awhile now.I knew he wasn't coming here I knew that.JR connection regardless.Good luck to him it's a bit late for the whole boxing thing.Anyway I've heard on here from a source Kolomatangi is a done deal 😂

Cmon Chris Mark Jim JR which ever one of you donkeys arr responsible for recruitment it's been a bit slow the fans have there noses on the glass waiting for anyone JDB has barely risen an eyebrow.Jnrs hopefully not going to fleece us we've locked up juniors.Simmo's replacing Lomax winning.

    • Kolommatangi is a great buy but Eels need a replacement for Lomax more importantly

    • I doubt we've locked up Kolomatangi. I'm confused on why we haven't bought a winger and a centre Ryles stated that's the important recruitment. And yes if we do get KK we got him in 27, we need players for 26 atm it's looking slim and we running on the paddock with the same blokes but more weaker with no lomax and maybe relying on a junior. I'm so confused as a fan at the moment on who our targets are. We playing for youth or old or never chase the superstars. Really concerning.

    • Coryn Hughes  Coryn what is the quality like of the second division of Rugby League in NZ, i.e I suppose the equivalent of NSW Cup, what process does a junior Kiwi player have with lets say a junior coming through NZ League.

Would there be room for the eqivalent if you like of a combination team of our relative juniors to play and develop in a competition. I know we have a lot of our juniors going to other clubs on the basis it is so hard to make the Parra junior rep sides.

Could we practically call on senior players to play in such a team as as an adjunct of experience for young players coming through.

  • I've said it before and again here we go.

Our recruitment team are so predictable, and follow a flow chart.

    Identify Talent - Check

    Woo Talent - Check

Miss out on Talent - Check

Make announcement of resigning/upgrading current player - Check.

    Wash Rinse Repeat

    • Harsh BE but fark if you aren't right do we have any guy that can close a farken deal.

Kalomatangi next mate I give is a 1/3 chance.

      • 33% chance you reckon.

        I say 5-10% Max

        • We have 10% of 1/3rd of o chance
