Nelson Asofa-Solomona has turned his back on up to seven NRL clubs interested in his service, quitting the NRL to take up a full-time deal in boxing.
News.com.au can exclusively reveal the NRL’s biggest man has quit rugby league indefinitely to pursue his dream of becoming a heavyweight boxing champion.
The 115kg enforcer has also become the first off-contract player to shun the mega bucks of R360 and also the riches on offer in the English Super League.
The former Melbourne Storm forward has signed a full-time boxing deal and could earn up to $1m a year in his new sport.
Plans are already underway for a rugby league super fight with another high profile NRL behemoth.

Melbourne and Cronulla have bought no one. There are a number of other clubs like Parramatta who have only signed one or two players.
Fact is, there has been very little movement so far for next year across the whole league compared to previous seasons. No doubt, due in no small part, two new teams coming in the next 3 years and a whole new TV rights deal to be worked out. Clearly player managers are holding out to see how that all pans out before committing their players to make wholesale changes to their existing deals.
Not that I'm upset we didn't sign Nelson but since November 1 we have signed absolutely nobody. And everyone reporting we have so much money
Not even someone a big fish, why aren't we after good role players for our backline like Averillo or someone. We have no replacement wingers in our system and no replacement centres that have first grade experience. Richard hasn't even made his debut yet
Something is up, its pissing me off. Why get rid of Lomax and sign nobody. And then we welcome Tago back in the 'top 30. I try to be positive but what the fuck is Ryles doing. Like honestly as a fan this is worrying it's going to be another dry wasted season. Pezet for one year was a sign that they have no clue what they are doing at this time.
Tago is not top 30.
Apparently he is
I think he got upgraded LB, I could be wrong though
He is now.
That is a very big concern because it tells us they have little faith in who is coming through or who they were able to chase unsuccessfully.
Averillo? 16 other teams didn't want him either.
